Nice interview with Andy Katz and Lickliter. For those of you speculating if one of Lickliter's objectives would be to develop a heir-in-waiting, ie Brad Stevens at Butler, pay close attention around the 6:00 mark.

Very nice interview. Don't care what others say I feel he is a good choice for us to get out of this major problem.

It sounds like the next 6 weeks will be audition time for the current coaching staff because next year's staff will be molded in the eyes of TL with his successor on the bench with him for 3 or more years.

I agree, however, I think we will see a "splash" of an assistant hire in the off-season. That person will be the heir-apparent for the Brad Stevens type mentoring and succession. I honestly could see a Matt Graves, Calbert or even Marcus landing in this spot. Ragland could be a long shot, but if he left Utah to come here as an assistant, then you know for sure that is the plan.

Marcus is a sentimental choice but I don't think there's much interest on his end.

There are very few casual observers that realize exactly how lucky we real UE basketball supporters are that Todd has agreed undertake this endeavor at a time in his life that he didn't have to. I had a season ticket holder ask me after the Drake game, "well how come we didn't win"? I started to explain that we're at least a year away from seeing the results of a TL program but stopped. Why waste my breath, You just can't help stupid.

It will take time, but not as much time if he would not have been here all of last year getting to know the AD, City and the existing players and assistant coaches. End of season he can make any changes he needs to in terms of his staff and get things the way he wants it for the next few years. What I like in his interview is that he really missed coaching college kids, going to practice and so on. Time to turn the next page albeit sooner than any of us would have ever guessed. Go Aces !

Graves would make some sense, and maybe he'd leave Xavier if he had the assurance that he'd be the heir to Lickliter, but right now he has a better gig.

Interesting choices being mentioned as possible successors to TL. We may very well see that type of hire this off season. Graves has been mentioned, and he would be a strong choice. Marcus has little experience as a college coach and I don't think he would be interested. I am uncertain of Calbert - before Walter was hired, the head coaching job was his to lose - "underwhelming" was the word used to describe his interview. I hope Terrance Commodore, our present assistant, might be a consideration. He appears to be very bright, a good recruiter, and relates well to the players. In any case, I trust TL a great deal, and feel confident is ablity to make sound decisions.

A little late to the party here, but I’m not so sure that we aren’t seeing the heir apparent on the bench already in LB or TC. I believe that if we see a coach leave at season’s end, the “splash” hire will be an assistant from a lower level school who has been recruiting way above their head for their level. They will not be the heir, but will be someone that can help bring in top recruits for TL. Just my thoughts.

I posted in another thread. Adam Wing, could be our version of Brad Stevens. Roughly same age, when Stevens went to Butler as an unpaid assistant. Toiled under Motta & was mentored under TL. Parallels?....perhaps
