I, like everyone else, have no idea how this will turn out. I am dumbfounded that Walter could do something like this, and expect that there would be no consequences. Another thing that bothers me is that when the ladies coach left rather quickly, and we got an assistant coach, the program hit rock bottom. Not saying that will be the case here, but it could happen. The men's, and ladies, programs aren't really the same, but it shows what can happen. I guess I should only be concerned if Seltzer should be named the permanent head coach. I doubt that would happen since basketball is the only revenue producing sport UE has. The next coach will be as crucial a hire as the last one was. Retaining an assistant the the women's program was a mistake. We used to have a good women's team. I'm not knocking the ladies on the team this year because I believe they have some real talent. They just don't seem to be prepared for games. I'm not knocking the ladies either. They do seem to have a little more talent from the transfers that were brought in. They, at least, don't seem to be losing by as big of scores as they have in the past. I think everyone knows what the problem with the ladies program is. I don't think they will win very many Valley games this year, if any.

The rumors are already flying around on every fan forum in the MVC.

Everything will work out if you let it. Nothing you can do about rumors except keep them off of here. We will do our best to keep them off Saluki Insider.

I hope what I'm hearing is not true. But if there's anything close to the stories floating around, Walter needs canned ASAP.
We need to get rid of him, pick a new coach who can try to keep this group of kids together, plus retain our recruits.
BTW, thanks for opening a new forum. I would have hated not being able to discuss our Purple Aces.

I think if McCarty is canned we will not get another coach until this season plays out, if we have a successful season Mr. Seltzer will be your new head coach in my opinion.

The best thing that we as fans can do is have a large crowd at our next home game to show our players, we are going to support them no matter who the coach is,with hope that this will give them the confidence that we believe in them,no matter who is coaching the team

Nothing can cure all that ails us than by putting 7K plus inside The FC on Jan 4th, to show our support for those players, with EVANSVILLE across their collective chest's. Need to show the University and the Evansville community that we support those kids on the floor and all is not lost because of poor decisions made by adults, not by those guys on the court. I'll be there. go aces
Great post, and I totally agree! We have a great group of young men on this team. I'm sure they have grown very close through their trip to Europe, from their awesome achievement of winning at No. 1 Kentucky, to the low of losing a couple of games in the Bahamas, to recently bouncing back and winning a tough game over Murray State. Now they have this unfortunate situation to go through. These kids didn't ask for this happen. I agree with Couteau that we need to give them a packed house on Jan. 4th to show them how much we appreciate having them at Evansville and playing for our school and community! Go Aces!

A lot of adversity for this young team to go through for sure. I hope Coach Seltzer gets the support he needs to give the team and especially Seniors the season they deserve after all the hard work in off-season.

An applicable lesson to us all, taken from this morning's Mennonite daily devotional ("Beside the Still Waters"):
Titled, "Destroyers"...
"Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." - I Peter 5:8
