K. Powell is getting 4-5:min. Per game at Houston. If he wants playing time once the season is over, I hope he considers coming home. He would immediately turn UE into a MVC contender. Would he be able to play immediately next year or have to sit out a year?

Wishful thinking about Powell, but remember that he’s just a freshman and Houston is ranked 11th in the nation so playing time is not expected. His twitter page shows signs that he really likes Houston. If Powell was going to come to UE, it would only be because of his connection to that Walter guy.... and well, he’s out of the picture.

Forget about Powell. He thinks he is "too big time for UE" and he went to play for known cheater. We can use a big guy for sure, but he is not the one.
In thinking about these great freshmen from the area that think they are really something, what about Lander at IU? He leaves a good Reitz team and does not get to play his last year of high school and goes to IU as what a 17 year old to play just a handful of minutes a game? He looks the part to of a young teenager against "the big men of the Big Ten" as he cannot guard anyone (too small and weak) and throws up bricks shooting maybe 20%? I wish him and IU the best but some kids are getting some bad advice somethere along the line and they think just because they can dominate in high school it makes them an automatic into the NBA.

It will be interesting this off-season to see how Coach Lickliter will address the 5 position. My hope is the Aces continue, with what I would call, a highly successful rebuild up to now. That could do nothing but make the program much more attractive for a potential recruit. Given what the Aces have coming back next season, having a force in the middle for 2001-02 season could make Evansville a very interesting team to watch.

I understand everyone wants a big man.But the way the game has revolved these days a true center doesn't really exist these days.Look at the starting lineup for teams,3 guards 2 forwards,or 4 guards 1 forward

Versatility is how the game today is mostly played. But you still need, IMO, a rim protector and someone to limit the opposition's second shots. And if you are lucky enough to have a "big" that can also score underneath, that potentially opens up the game considerably.

We need a BIG, or two. They don’t have to be 6-10, but we need a presence where we can at least hold our own on the boards. I’m glad Powell is happy at Houston. Hopefully, our new assistants will have connections that might bring in some inside talent. We’d all take another Iggy. Davidson get’s a couple of Scandinavian inside guys nearly every year.

Powell from Bosse no way. Lazy. Not willing to put in the extra effort. I say that with confidence from a friend at Bosse. Saw Sisley play........he can really shoot it. I'd take him over Powell any day of the week. As for the game changing yes it has But when you say four guards and one big the guards of today are way bigger and stronger and faster than back in the day. If you are under 6'2 you're considered little.

We're talking about if we could add someone this late; does anyone know what our scholarship breakdown is? How many we will have available next year? I'm assuming all scholarships are taken for this year.

I'm assuming all scholarships are taken for this year. Marvin is the only guaranteed opening. Antoine could do a 5th year if he and the staff agree to it. I believe Kenny transferred here with 2 years eligibility and intends to use both. So only 1 guarantee. With the way the portal works now, I’d guess we’ll have at least two others explore more PT via the portal though.

So...looks like we don't have any open scholarships. Consider this....if Powell wants to attend UE he probably still has some time to enroll in classes. With NIL in place couldn't he be a walk-on and a booster/boosters provide an NIL package that would cover his tuition, room and board for at least one year? Then he would receive a basketball scholarship for next year. I'm anxious to hear your thoughts!

I’m not sure he would be eligible for playing this season, but he could start taking classes and practicing under that proposal.

Is there a limit on the number of walk-ons a team can have? If I’m correct, no limits on walk ons, but only a certain number can travel with the team (to NCAA events. )
