The OVC has been using the women's/men's doubleheaders since at least 1980. I got season tickets for Tennessee Tech games since it was the only college game in town and the Aces were coming in to play. All conference games were doubleheaders. There's no reason reason in my mind the Valley couldn't do the same thing. It almost certainly has to be more cost effective. Title IX doesn’t like Women/Men Doubleheaders Also, the same person that designed the Ford Center to focus on Hockey etc, must have designed Meeks It could have easily been made to look much better for a few penny’s more Sad really

Graves is the guy at ISU. It will be interesting to see how this one goes. If he hadn’t seen the McCarrty train wreck coming and jumped ship after one season, I think there’s a pretty good chance he’s elevated to interim HC when Walter’s fired and made permanent HC instead of Lickliter. Not sure it would’ve worked, and I’m not sure he’ll be able to maintain Schertzs momentum, but it’s interesting to think about as we see him get to work in Terre Haute. His job after UE was special assistant to HC Travis Steele at Xavier. That doesn't seem like a step up from assistant coach at UE so perhaps Graves had seen enough of McCarty and rightly bailed. I wish him well at ISU.

The crazy thing is: after our win at Rupp, if Walt could have kept it in his pants, he would be getting introduced in Lexington right now

Jumped the gun? And how do you know whether Schertz talked to UL? It seems that several coaches may have turned down that job. Numerous reports were UL wanted Schertz, but he pulled out because he had a MOA with SLU already signed and SLU wasn't playing around with it. Do I know it as absolute fact..no, but not sure what else would explain passing on $4 mil+ at an ACC school to go to SLU for considerably less. If that's true, then Schertz needs to find a different agent/lawyer. On the other hand, it seems that several coaches turned down UL so I wonder if there's some skeletons in the closet there.

The crazy thing is: after our win at Rupp, if Walt could have kept it in his pants, he would be getting introduced in Lexington right now I don’t think that would’ve ever happened. Walter got lucky that night in Lexington. He was a bad coach and a horrible talent evaluator. He passed on Jake Laravia and Tristen Newton. Go back and look at the guys he signed/had committed when he got fired. Peace Illegomah - so bad he never even practiced with the team Thomasi Gilgeous Alexander - transferred to JUCO and quit basketball. Marcus Henderson - D2 player Trey Hall - Going to be a D2 player after this transfer cycle if he’s still playing Jonathan Dejurnette - Aberaged 2 points and 2 rebounds over a 4 year career at IPFW Khalil Shaheed - Never played organized college basketball after decommitting, recently killed someone while working a dunk in donuts drive through www.tampabay.com/news/breaking-news/2023/03/07/clearwater-dunkin-employee-arrested-after-shooting-customer-police-say/?outputType=ampDeandre was a star and his only great recruit. Samari, Sam, Art, Jawuan, and Shamar were all decent ball players, but not the kind of guys that get you the UK job. He missed far more than he hit on talent evaluations, and I don’t think he would’ve ever gotten us to the level we wanted. Add in the fact that most of the guys he was bringing in were low character idiots, and it makes it even worse. I was told from a very reliable source that we had a sub 2.0 team GPA when he was fired, and that’s on a roster that had Evan Kuhlman, Noah Frederking, and KJ Riley, who I know were Deans List level students.

I’m with you. History shows he was brutal and passed on NBA talent, but what I’m saying is: had he not been a moron…..

I see where SLU's new HC signed one of his ISU recruits...maybe in all fairness, the NCAA should force him to reimburse the Sycamores for their lost recruiting "costs?" Anyone think his ISU contract provided the latitude of "double agency?"

So why did he leave a D1 head coaching position for an assistant position? There must be a back story here. Was his job in jeopardy? Either way, it sounds like a big pickup for ISU blue.

New Orleans is a dumpster fire of a program. Go do a quick google search on their history over the last decade. Can’t remember the exact story but I think they publicly said they were dropping to D2 and crippled their programs by going independent until the drop happened and then ended up staying D1. I don’t think the financial issues that started the original move have disappeared either. It might seem like a downgrade career wise, but it’s probably a lateral move pay wise when you factor in a cost of living adjustment. Being closer to home was probably a big factor too. Also probably realized at this point in his career that being a top assistant on a successful team elsewhere would help him get closer to his career aspirations than being the HC and having an average team every year while being handicapped by poor resources at your school.
