New Orleans is a dumpster fire of a program. Go do a quick google search on their history over the last decade. Can’t remember the exact story but I think they publicly said they were dropping to D2 and crippled their programs by going independent until the drop happened and then ended up staying D1. I don’t think the financial issues that started the original move have disappeared either. It's a good thing we never had a president wag his tongue to the media about us dropping to D-2.......yes, it can be crippling as we well know. That was over 20 years ago and we still get crap about it.

Wyomings head coach just left to become the top assistant at Texas Tech. Interesting decision this late into the cycle.
This will definitely have some ripple effects and increased portal action as Wyoming players enter and potentially players from another if Wyoming hires a sitting HC. They had some pretty good guys come in the portal. I don’t think we were tied to any, but if would be nice to see us get involved if some talented players enter.

Here’s Wyoming’s current 24-25 roster: Last year’s stats: s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/wyoming.sidearmsports.com/documents/2024/3/13/MBB.pdfAt least four of their transfers have solid stats, especially their 6-9 and 6-10 big men. The 6-3 and 6-4 transfers have good stats as well.

So, I wonder how many of Wyoming's players might follow their coach to Texas Tech? From looking over the Texas Tech roster, it appears they have 8 players currently on the roster (enrolled/committed according to Verbal Commits) ... PG (2), SG (2 - soph. Kevin Overton from Drake, plus an incoming frosh), SF (1), PF (3), C (0). That leaves 5 openings. It also appears that Texas Tech lost many of their players to the transfer portal.
I also saw that Wyoming's coach was frustrated with the lack of available NIL money, so that may have been a factor in his decision to leave.
