Aces don't have the players to hang with this team. Could be a 40-50 point loss.

Not watching the game but see that we are down at the half 42-20. From this snippet from the pregame article they are the best MVC team that we will face this year:
“The Lady Bears sit 35th in NET rankings, the second-highest ranked opponent for UE this season behind Iowa, who is currently 23rd.”

Acecard is correct on this one. Mo State is very talented. We're a little slow and out of control on offense. The refs have made several ridiculous calls. Is the officiating really this bad in the women's game?

Ow-kay, the better teams are clearly better. No surprise although I thought the gap would be closer.

I don't have the heart to comment on this game any more.

The optimist in me says, a 1-point loss is the same as this one. I don't have any other complaints.

If you really follow wbb,you know that miz st is a powerhouse. Their previous coach is now the coach of Tennessee (they have a slight wbb tradition, lol) and heir current coach is probably only a season or 2 away from a big p5 job. They have a players who could easily be on a p5 team and they are extremely disciplined and mature in terms of their game. This is a team that evansville is striving to be like in a few years imo. The result if this match wasn't surprising at all to me, although I do wish we could have done a little better defensively.
Hope Hudson is okay

Ouch MVC Conference standings - WBBNote: Missouri State is currently fourth in the conference and has already lost to Illinois State (3rd place team) and UNI (fifth place team) and hasn't even played the current 1st and 2nd place MVC teams yet (Southern Illinois and Indiana State) ... We are currently ninth ahead of winless Bradley. I'm sure HeavensvilleAce could expand on who he thinks are the top five WBB teams in the Valley (as he follows the WBB team closer than I do), but these are the current standings.

I will reassert, with a limited knowledge overall of women's BB, that the UE style of play is something that appears to be part of a trend. Meaning, they are playing a type of game that the real good programs have already either perfected or have adapted their recruiting to improve. (That is a terrible sentence.)
The Aces and the full-court defense is going to have leaks in it until they find a couple more quicker people in the front court. The fast-break offense is fun but fraught with risk when players can't finish at the rack or make bad passes. All this is execution and hasn't got much to do with coaching. RSW proved so far that she can attract girls (women) to the program. I am OK with what I see, even if it isn't paying off in the conference.
The big problem is not being able to polish off a couple of teams lately that aren't better. Still, all teams will experience that. Women's BB is an acquired taste and the components that make me shake my head are also very much integral to the game. I never expected this team to be in the top 5 in the Valley. I was hoping they'd finish .500 overall and go from there. That's maybe slipping out of reach, but there is no denying that the aura around this team is positive.

Hard to sort these things out, possibly had players out with Covid or simply a bad shooting night. They played some tough teams on non-con schedule, including a win against a Missouri team that gave #1 South Carolina their only loss of the season. Also a win against then #24 VaTech and a close loss to #12 LSU.
I was at the first half of the game and MoSt is simply more talented and most of their players didn't seem to have any awkwardness that I see in a few UE players. This is one of the few games where a Lickliter strategy of fewer possessions could of been used to reduce the final margin...maybe to 20 pts!

There's one thing that can be said for our basketball coaches. They stick with their style of play come hell, or high water.

The top of the league this year is imo: 1. Missouri st 2. IL ST 3. SIU 4. ISU 5. UNI/Drake Many of these teams simply haven't played each other yet with so many games being postponed Also if you arent really a follower of wbb know the MVC has been ahead of the big east in conference RPI most years in wbb, making the MVC the toughest mid major conference in wbb. And that won't get easier next year adding two great teams in belmont and murray, and thank God... one team we can beat up on...UIC

I won't speak specifically to the players Ruffing recruited but there is no doubt that some kids maybe passed on Evansville because it was making no real improvement. Being last should be a temporary moment, not a chronic condition.
I assume the Aces will be appealing to some more players over the summer. Putting a system in place is more than just saying, 'OK, run the picket fence. Then step up and steal the ball.'
Some teams are always at the top of the conference. Ruffing's problem was he did exactly the opposite.
