There appears to be interest from UE for 2022 wing, Omar Henry. He is 6'7, 225 from Wellston, MO. Quick and athletic wing who can score from inside and outside. Holds offers from Chicago State, SIUE, and Western Michigan. No official offer from UE at this point.

Thanks for sharing as always.
Not exactly a list of offers from top D1 schools for this kid; but then again we will always have to look for those diamonds in the rough and the kids that are flying under the radar and are overlooked.

I won't speak to this kid specifically but I think the UE approach ought to be a little more toward slotting their less-than-marquee prospects in a JUCO environment rather than having them come to campus, sit on the bench and watch a bunch of slow graduate-level players get all the court minutes. I'd rather have seen somebody getting some PT at Vincennes than watching Jax Levitch take up a spot on the floor.
Evansville needs to beef up its roster, yeah, but the approach I see is far too passive and, frankly, lazy. Get these guys in, let them earn a few credit hours at Vincennes or JA Logan or some other 2-year school, and then bring them in. Of course, the system they run at Vincennes probably involves getting a shot off before the timer hits :02.
Taking 2nd or 3rd tier players isn't evil. You can build a cohesive team that way if you have coaching in place that works at it.
I also realize that the coaches at these JUCO teams aren't interesting in molding character for Evansville. The process needs to be reciprocal.

I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see our conference competitors showing interest in a player. No warm fuzzies here.

Again the posters on purple ace place have it right. The current approach by UE is simply a lazy way to run a D1 program. We aren’t recruiting hard enough. We are not casting a wide enough net, and I’m not sure we have the staff to develop the players we get, IF they somehow manage to find some of the talent required to play at this level.
We need a change-agent AD. We need an AGGRESSIVE HC, not a retread or a total rookie. There are plenty of top flight candidates that would work 24/7:to build this program back. Why is it so difficult for the Administration to see what is needed to turn this storied program around?
IMHO, we seem to have our head in the sand, thinking that we can gradually become relevant again. It’s not going to happen with the current leadership. And it does NOT take 5 years to “rebuild.”

IMHO, we seem to have our head in the sand, thinking that we can gradually become relevant again. It’s not going to happen with the current leadership. And it does NOT take 5 years to “rebuild.” They might actually see what they need to do or at least admit it's "a way" of doing things but the unknown here is whether they actually do have such an aggressive head coach on the short list when Lick's time is done. What we can hope is that there is a semblance of a plan. I think recruits coming into a program need to see more than ... "we're doing it this way until the time comes for us to do something else." So for the moment, the program is stuck and even if they replace Lick now, they just elevate one of the assistants. We've seen how that works and to be honest, I'd ride out the year with this staff intact. The longer strategy would seemingly be one of selling the competition the Valley offers, the facilities, the history of the program and the enthusiasm that the city can generate. Since I don't live there, I can't evaluate that last part. But if they insist on bringing in frosh and parking them on the bench, most kids will choose Option B, which is to NOT be parked on the bench.

Thanks for sharing. Not bad, but all five offers are from very low D1 schools - so with limited video it makes me wonder. But hey, at least this is some news on a guy that we are potentially recruiting.

Sometimes it makes for good discussion, and other times not so much! LOL I tell you what, though ... this board sure has a lot of interesting Aces info, memories, and discussions to read! I enjoy seeing everyone's input.

He actually looks pretty good but appears to be primarily a 3-point shooter with the occasional garbage basket. But for a team like Evansville he could be a diamond in the rough - who knows but no official offer from UE yet.

And with a name like Omarion, his game will likely continually mutate so as to challlenge defenses as they attempt to contain the spread of his contagious style of play. I'm sorry for that one... Go Aces!

Go Aces! LOL ... yeah, his game is not as hurtful as his big brother, Deltamarion. You got me started, Acescott! :-)

All COVID references aside, he will never, IMHO, have the best D1 name of all time. Baskerville Holmes was a terrific player for them Memphis State in the late 1980’s. I think Penny Hardaway was just after him. Unfortunately, “Bat” had an unfortunate demise…RIP.
