Great starting point from the last few years! Wins against the top 5 teams will only raise the ranking.

I want to applaud the coaching staff of the womens side for proving it is possible to win here and start winning quickly. I do know it’s early and I shouldn’t get ahead of myself, but still. I think the mens staff should start to really feel some pressure.

I think there is a very good chance they win 16-to-18 games this year. The first season of recruiting will show to be much different than the ones in the future. But 18 wins is possibly the equivalent of an NIT bid, depending on a couple of things. That alone will add attendance and possibly generate a few more games at the Ford Center. I base that record on going into the MVC with 7 wins, 8 tops. A .500 record in the conference may be realistic, may not be. It is where you want to realistically start considering where they have been. I have no idea if a 193 ranking is too high, too low or just about right. I don't see them dropping much below that.

I would really hope that they could break even in the Valley, but they are going to have to shore up their rebounding, and their half court defense, to do it. Hopefully they can.

Drake, UNI and Moe State are better overall but we already knew that. The trick is to play well enough to have a chance at it. I have no illusions about a Valley championship after they were essentially a designated practice game for 4 years. There are parts of their game that are dicey and there are parts that are damned exciting -- which is promising for growth of the program. I tend to look at this as an audition for what is possible in rebranding a mid-major women's program that was left behind by a completely inept coach. If UE wins 7 or 8 games in the conference, they will attract a lot of interest. The second or third year is where you go. The program needs depth and that takes time.

Never forget lol Wow, I found the RPI ratings for the end of 2017-2018 and the UE Women's basketball team was rated #349 out of 349 D1 teams with a record of 1-27. Women's RPI Ratings for 2017-2018What is even more amazing is that the coach kept his job. Glad to see all the improvement with the new regime and you can tell that they are a tight-knit, happy group which translates to the court.

Austinace has capsulized it very well. The women are well-coached by a staff being held to a high standard by a confident, driven head coach who knows the type of player she wants and is willing to recruit like hell to get a TEAM.CAPABLE OF WINNING GAMES. This is a team that will be in most MVC games, and while I’m not ready to sign up for an 18-19 win season, I think we can finish at least .500.
I cannot say ANY of the above for the men’s team.
