The early signing period started yesterday and goes through next Wednesday (November 10th - 17th).
However, I have heard of no activity. It would be nice to not have to wait till the spring for all of the commitments for next year to sign as we have a lot of openings next year.

I'm assuming still no activity - period closes in 2 days. With 5 seniors on the roster we definitely need more than one signee. Waiting until the spring with that many openings will lead to a lot of scrambling unless Givance, Newton, and Iyen are all planning on coming back.

Related to this - WBB signed two recruits and the athletic department has a nice press relaease with comments from RSW. As is typically the case - and has been for years - MBB signs a player (apparently) and we learn from his twitter but crickets from UE. This drives me crazy.

I think today is the last day to sign a LOI in the early signing period. It looks like it came and went. Has anyone hurt of any recruiting news? Thanks.

HE…..LO UE athletic dept! HE….LO UE basketball!
Why haven’t we heard anything about recruiting? The reason is that we are not recruiting! It’s that simple and it’s that bad. Why do we not have multiple offers out there? There aren’t many secrets in D1 basketball. The kids tweet and post on Instagram, so why not cast a decent sized net? It’s not like UE is going to discover some gem that no one has found out about. Anyone can get current info on Verbal Commits. We are not that selective that we can only afford to offer the kids who fit our culture perfectly. After all, look at the talent we have. Nice kids, but there don’t appear to be any Colts, DJs, or Jaylons on the current squad. We have great facilities and a fan base that WANTS to support a competitive team. So, bring in some hard-nosed guys with reasonable talent. This is job ONE, not trying to enhance the productivity of Evan, Noah, and Bobe.
UE cannot have successful athletic programs (led by Men’s Basketball) when our HC and athletic administration aren’t out shaking hands and meeting prospective players.

I too am surprised by this. But what I am understanding is that this might partly be due to the new landscape where most of the recruiting is done through the transfer portal. So it will be interesting to see how much high school recruiting is done going forward.
I'm sure we must be doing some recruiting and evaluation but I could be wrong. Or maybe we are just waiting till the end of the year to see who is in the transfer portal or on players like Jackson Munro to make a decision. It should be interesting and likely come down to the wire/summer.

I don’t discount the reality that college recruiting is complex…a lot of moving parts. However, let’s just look at one example of a team that is a lot like UE.. That team is Lipscomb, rival of Belmont, and a school that has academic standards. Yet, somehow, they have recruited enough talented players to compete against the likes of Dayton, who they beat tonight by 15+. If a Lipscomb, Belmont, Davidson, etc. can scour the landscape for players talented enough to compete, then UE, with the right leadership and effort, can do the same. We do not have to settle for the leftovers in the Spring, and while the transfer portal has been a BIG factor in player movement, it makes NO sense for any respectable D1 to focus the majority of its recruiting on transfers.
IMHO, one of the most important responsibilities of a HC is to close the deal on a targeted recruit. Reading between the lines, I think that Logan has been carrying a lot of the recruiting load, and we hear very little about ANY activity involving the other assistants. Surely, one of them is working to develop an inside game for the Aces. Hopefully, they are all calling prospects every day, and I’d really like to hear from some of our participants who are aware of what’s happening behind the scenes. I get the feeling that there are parts of the HC role that TL doesn’t have a taste for, and recruiting is at the top of the list. Maybe he’s a great practice coach and tactician, but for the foreseeable future, it seems to me that we need to recruit a talent upgrade. Bobe, Noah, and others on this team may be giving great effort, but they are borderline D1 players, at best.

I do think that Logan is recruiting quite a bit and has connections, but maybe there is a problem with the head coach convincing recruits. Could be that potential recruits are watching video of what offense we are using, seeing the struggles we are having with shot clock violations, etc., and in competing with even a D3 program, and deciding they want to play somewhere more exciting? Maybe word gets out (to former HS/AAU team mates, fans) from our current/recent players who are not exactly thrilled with their playing time or usage? I'm sure desirable recruits do their homework in learning about a potential program to join. If they are not turned on by the current product they are seeing or hearing about, how will you ever get them on campus to even consider the arena or practice facilities we have? Just some thoughts.
I'll add another observation. When the Aces game came on ESPN3 the other night, the first thing I noticed was an almost empty arena. That is understandable when you have a 6pm start time. How many recruits might be watching that broadcast, noticing the same thing? Having been at UE during their 10,000+ raucous fans in the stands heydays, the current attendance isn't exactly creating that much excitement. I understand times have changed, but excitement needs to be generated by the athletic department through PR and communications to its fan base (like Lance Wilkinson and Joe Downs provided a few years ago). Currently, UE is doing a failing job on those fronts. I don't get the impression that UE even shares much info with Chad Lindskog for his coverage in the Courier, but I'm just guessing on that.

We had all our offers on the table and only 1 player sat down to eat.
