Looks like they are rated #80 out of 341 D1 schools which is very respectable. masseyratings.com/cvol/ncaa-d1/ratingsOnly Valparaiso and Missouri State out of the MVC at #73 and #76 are rated higher out of the MVC. Loyola comes in at #82 and Northern Iowa at #99. IU is #69. Evansville’s only loss was to #88 Northern Kentucky whose three losses are to Ohio State, Louisville and Missouri. Ohio State is ranked #3 in the country and Louisville is ranked #5. Rankings: www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleyball-women/d1/avca-coaches

I have watched several matches on ESPN +. They should be very competitive in MVC. A lot of new talent to go with solid returnees.

I use it for baseball, volleyball, and basketball. It is really pretty cheap for a guy who lives too far away to attend in person.

She could play at a lot of DI schools. The Setter-Haffner is a really solid Freshmen. The new Libero DS - Freeman is playing well. Steele is playing well also. These additions, coupled with a strong offensive group returning, have made them a deep, talented team. I would expect them to finish in the top 4 of the Valley. If the coach stays, I would only expect us to get stronger. His international coaching opportunities will continue to bring better than normal talent to UE.

Aces easily win 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-15).
UE looked really good, especially when they were focused. Halfway through the first set they were up big (11-3) and lost focus momentarily and Cleveland State scored several points in a row and tied it before the Aces decided to buckled down and easily won the first set by ten.
I guess my point is that Cleveland State was no match for them but they got bored at some points in the match. But when they decided to really play, their talent level was really good - they seemed to have another gear when they wanted to take it up a notch. I expect Murray State at 1 PM tomorrow to be a tougher match but still very winnable.

A sweep of Murray (25-17, 33-31, 25-17) and the lady aces VB team is 10-1 after conference play. Have they ever had a start this good going into conference play before?

A quick check of the last 20 years shows that they have only had two seasons with a winning record: 2010-2011 (17-13) and 2019 (16-14). In 2010-11 they started out 11-1 (10-1 entering conference play). That team unfortunately lost ten straight at the end of league play before winning their last game of the season. In 2019 they were 9-2 entering league play. So I’m guessing that league play could be a little tougher but my guess is this will be the best Aces volleyball team in at least the last 20 years.

Thanks for the updates. They appear to be on the way to a special season. I hadn't thought of using my ESPN+ for volleyball. I kind of forget about it during the basketball offseason.

Evansville is now the highest rated MVC team at #66 (out of 341 D1 teams). Valpo is rated #69 and Missouri State comes in at #72.
All MVC teams except Southern Illinois are rated middle of the pack or higher. It will be interesting to see how they do in conference play.
Their next three games are all road games and against a 2-loss Indiana State team rated #152 on September 24th; and then back to back games on October 1st and 2nd against Loyola rated #104 and a 2-loss Valparaiso team rated #69. All games are on ESPN3.

The Lady Aces VB team loses in 3 sets to Indiana State on the road. The first game was very close but each additional game was not so close. They lose 26-24, 25-19, 25-13. Welcome to the MVC. Here is a link to the Live Stats: gosycamores.com/sidearmstats/wvball/summaryTheir next game is next Friday on the road against Loyola. Hopefully they can regroup and get a road win.
