Looks like we are only missing one player so far. If I had to guess I would assume its one of our foreign players, perhaps Gala Camarena.
Glad we will get a strong preseason in! that wasn't possible a year ago. I'm going to reference this tweet as a 'before' and can't wait to see how they look after elevated conditioning. Even in a non covid year, our preseason conditioning and prep was substandard

Up front, I need to know if those gym shoes come in men's sizes. Otherwise, I wonder if Ruffing reads this stuff and if it even matters that this program was a designated practice game for 4 seasons. IF RSW does nothing more than outfit the team in nifty purple shoes, she's made a difference.

Exciting stuff and a great article. I have to admit that I have only been to 4-5 lady Aces games in the past few years, but I will make a point to see them in action this season. The contrast in enthusiasm between the men’s and women’s program is SO apparent. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the lady ACES will win the MVC, or even win 10 games, but a winning attitude can translate. I truly hope that our next men’s coach is more in the RSW mold, vs. the leadership we have now. There is no reason why we cannot find a top flight men’s coach who can recruit, bench coach, promote with enthusiasm, and win with integrity.

I've been watching the wbb team for quite a few years and im gonna say there is no way in hell that this team doesn't outperform every single team from the last five years in their first 5 minutes of their first game, Haha. I will definitely be attending the game at the Ford center along with a handful on campus. The players that played under Matt seem like totally different players under coach rsw already, the new players are going to bring great energy and grit. The conditioning level has tripled easily. The energy in practice is great. Even if we don't win as much as we want this year, the product will be much more fun to watch and thats all you can ask for in year one of a rebuild (a build?)

And just like we didn’t know of RSW before she was hired, there is no reason why a search for a similar men’s coach can’t be just as successful. Too many take the cautious approach and only look to the Aces assistants to find a replacement. Marty was Crew’s assistant. Safe Lickliter was McCarty’s assistant. Cautious-fan favorite Baumann is Lickliter’s assistant. Evanspatch dwellers have an aversion to thinking outside the box. Hopefully RSW can change that .

I won't say building a women's program is easier, but in UE's case, the floor had already been identified. Living on it was a tradition. For a coach who wants to grow success at a mid-major, the process should be less complicated. Find a coach who's been recruiting. The dividing line in WBB is very clear: The top 10 programs are going to win 98 percent of their games. The elite players go to those programs and the rest of them just end up somewhere. Why should they not end up at Evansville? Well, first ... you gotta ask them. Plenty of good-to-very good women's players are going to UConn or Baylor or Stanford and are finding a nice seat on the bench. If that's your goal in college sports, you have everyone's permission. Or you can play on a team that's tired of being the floor model. Honestly, I don't have any real perspective on how successful this program will be. I just think we need to have a Matt Ruffing Award -- to be given out once a year to the most inept person in sports.

Too funny. I would be up for giving a "Ruffing" to the poster with the dumbest post of the year, although I am sure it will greatly offend the winner. Maybe we can award one to the biggest idiot on the MVC board instead at the end of each season.

I mean, I know HOW to change a filter in my furnace. Actually achieving it is another matter. But I think there will be plenty of time for us to decide exactly what the Ruffing award ought to measure.

Go back 7 posts and reread heavensville’s update. The description of the team’s energy, commitment to conditioning, and the positive statements by returning EVANSVILLE ladies makes such a statement for the program!
The fact is that Coach RSW has stretched the concept of what is possible in a very positive manner. From a distance, it appears that she is reaching the team and getting unqualified buy-in.

Gala Camerena is now here in indiana, that means coach RSW has her whole roster and can really get to work implementing her brand of offense and defense
