More intrigue for we the people. One NLI signed and now three commits. A verbal commitment means nothing without the NLI. Let's hope it's all positive news. š¤

Samari was recruited to Cincinnati by Antwan Jackson. He was a well respected asst coach at Cincy. He will be our next head coach! He recruited Curtis. Here is an article about the Antwan I found...this is not a rumor, just my take on this that makes sense of it all...... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Antwon Jacksonās efforts in Cincinnati since his arrival in June 2012 have helped the Bearcats win 75 percent of their games, posting a 183-59 record with seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
A talented recruiter and gifted coach, Jackson was invited to the NCAAās prestigious Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) program during the summer 2016, where he was put through an intensive development program for preparation of career advancement.
Jackson built a reputation for finding high-level prospects during stints at both UMass and William and Mary over the previous seven seasons. During his last four seasons in Amherst, Jackson helped recruit and coach players who contributed to the Minutemenās rise in the Atlantic-10 Conference standings. UMass improved upon its 12-18 overall mark and 10th-place league finish in 2008-09, building toward a 25-12 mark and fifth-place league finish during the 2011-12 campaign. UMass advanced to the semifinal round of the 2012 Postseason NIT. The Minutemenās 25 wins on the season tied with the 2008 squad for most wins by the program since its Final Four run at the 1996 NCAA Tournament.
Prior to his stay at UMass, Jackson helped retool William and Mary under Tribe head coach Tony Shaver. During Jacksonās three seasons in Williamsburg, Virginia, William and Mary improved its overall record from 8-20 and 10th place in the Colonial Athletic Association in 2006 to a 17-16 mark and fifth-place finish in 2008. The Tribe marched through the 2008 CAA tournament but fell one game shy of an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. William and Mary recorded a 10-8 league record in 2008, marking only the second double-digit win total in its 23-year history in the CAA.
Before climbing into the collegiate coaching ranks Jackson gained experience as an assistant coach with two high schools and numerous AAU squads in Virginia and Maryland. He served as an assistant coach at Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Virginia, during the 2004-05 season, helping lead the team to an 18-8 record and an appearance in the Virginia Independent Schools championship game. Paul VI High School is a member of the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference, considered one of the top high school basketball leagues in the country. From 2001-04, Jackson was an assistant coach at Bishop McNamara in Forestville, Maryland.
On the AAU circuit Jackson performed as an assistant coach for the successful DC Assault and Maryland Select squads for two summers (2004-05). Typically one of the top AAU teams in the nation, DC Assault has produced many NCAA Division I and NBA players and coaches. Jackson was an assistant coach with DC Blue Devils AAU in 2003.
Jackson also has worked at some of the top summer basketball camps in the country, including the adidas Superstar Camp and several years at the Five Star Basketball Camp.

Let's hope it's all positive news. š¤ According to the C&P article published today Samari Curtis is enrolled and will be attending classes at UE for the Spring semester. In addition he has been given the open scholarship for this year and will be on the bench at our next home game against Missouri St on Saturday. His status is no longer a rumor but is now fact.

I liked how he was up and cheering and helping his teammates today. I also heard a week or so back he is in the nursing program and he was aware of the coaching confusion when he committed so it appears as though he is here to stay regardless of what happens with Walter.

I am curious as to why Samari has to sit out at all at this point. I know that was the rules generally followed in the past, however the NCAA is handing out waivers all over the place for players who actually finished the season last year with their previous school, yet are becoming immediatley eligible at their new school. If the NCAA is being that generous with other transfers, why would a player who was actually enrolled at UE all of last spring have to sit out at all? I know our team is going to have struggles this year, but it would be nice to have Samari on the court game 1.

Since he has too sit out the first semester, and then is eligible, he will be eligible game 1.

Itās my understanding Samari, or anyone in a similar situation, is eligible to play as soon as heās completed his last final exam for the semester.

That should be correct. In a normal year finals are somewhere around the first week in December. Our other mid year transfers have been eligible around the 15th of December and get in a few games before the conference season begins. This year the virus forced an early semester end so students would be off campus from Thanksgiving until after January 1. This will allow Curtis to play games earlier which is something UE strongly needs this year with the additional defections.

I should have mentioned this year finals are scheduled for December 1ā9. btw Students are allowed to stay on campus after Thanksgiving day if theyāve let UE know their plans. Itās complicated and has been changed several times.
