Justin King (Class of ’22) is a 6’4 PG from Mascouta (IL) HS and also plays for the Illinois Bears. He mentions that he is being recruited by Evansville and Utah State among others. Has a 3.77 GPA. In addition to his offensive skills, ChicagoLand Prep Hoops describes King as “a disruptive defender with length at the PG spot.” His HS team finished with a 13-1 record, 8-0 in conference.

Mascoutah is about 20 miles from Okawville, where Noah is from.

Mascoutah is about 20 miles from Okawville, where Noah is from. Mascoutah is a huge city compared to Okawville. 8,245 versus 1,525 UE's enrollment is more than Okawville's population. This kid looks to be the real deal to me.

This is a place that would seem a hotbed for Marcus Wilson to swing for the UE program. Without attempting to consider whether this is the kid they need to go after, the area should be a nice place to start.

I like this kid a lot. He definitely has game. Three tidbits: - Looks like he wears glasses when he plays. Shouldn't be a big deal. But he better have a few extra pairs of glasses if he is going to play in the MVC.
- Looks like his former coach, Justin Love, recently and unexpectedly passed away at the age of 41. Justin played at SLU under Lorenzo Romar.
- He is being recruited by other MVC schools like Illinois State and SIU. He has already made two visits to SIU. So I think there is a good chance we will see this kid in the MVC - I just hope it is for us and not against us.

When I saw where he was from, the first thing that came to mind was that I hope he doesn't go to SIU.

AustinAce, I liked what I saw, too! Interesting that the first impression you get from his video is his great effort on defense. Justin certainly has a lot of offensive skills on display, including his quickness and ability to play above the rim. I also read the story about the unexpected passing of his coach, Justin Love, last summer. Certainly Coach Love made quite an impact on his team and the Mascoutah community.

I like the glasses look so let’s sign him. Judging from the thick and tilted outer edge of his lenses he has quite a bit of astigmatism which is not easily corrected with contacts. Athletic frames are nearly indestructible and fasten behind the head so it’s a non-issue.

If anybody remembers the guy who played for the Lakers -- Kurt Rambis -- who wore glasses that became something of a cult accoutrement for the fans ... what a great find this would be.

Rambis was the guy who immediately came to mind for me as well. Then I remembered Kareem in his later years, with goggles. James Worthy too. I'm sure there are others, sometimes for short term eye protection after a scratch or something. George Mikan also comes to mind, but that was way before my time. Yes, we definitely need to sign Justin.

He chose a DII school 30 minutes from home. I suspect we did not lose him but maybe lost interest in recruiting him.
