As I look out the window on a rainy Saturday, I am trying to find the silver lining. At least the temps are headed to the 60's, so I may be able to enjoy a cigar on the porch during today's game at Loyola.
With roadies at Loyola and Terre Haute, only to return home to face a re-energized Mo State team, there is a good possibility we could be 0-6 by next Saturday. Should that be the case, I think it will be safe to say the season is over, as far as any hopes of it being successful.
The fans will check out, it will appear the players have checked out, and with an 0-6 start, there really won't be any intention of retaining Selzer. With that in mind, why just hand over the attendance crown to Bradley without a fight. Why not have a few guest coaches for remaining games?
Seriously, if we are out, and planning a staff overhaul at the end of the season, why not do something to at least bring the fans in, and give us something to be interested in. Give a home game to Crews and one to Walters. It's not like those guys have forgotten everything they ever learned, and it will definitely sell tickets.
I think it would be fun not only to have those guys back for a game each, but to see how each of them would approach a game with these players.
Of course, all of this is based upon a determination of McCarty not coming back. It would take a little planning, something you really couldn't do until that situation is resolved.

pure ridiculous statement Well Mr Sunshine, it may be, but I would be much more interested if you had any thoughts on how to fill 8,000 empty seats as this drags on, and why it is so ridiculous?? Violation of NCAA rules? I guess the rain is keeping the kids off your lawn to chase away.

Fun concept. Now get to the bowling center. You've got kids to coach today. 😎

I’m a season ticket holder and really don’t plan on going to any more home games unless something changes quickly. I’ll just watch the games on ESPN + at home. I think if we get coach McCarty back that changes. These kids love their coach.

That's great that the players love their coach, but they should love winning too. Maybe they do, but it's sure not showing. When Walter was suspended, I was hoping they would have an "us against the world", or a "we'll show everybody" attitude. But that hasn't been what we've seen.

It is worth mentioning that coach McCarty should only come back if it is the right thing to do, not because they love their coach. Hopefully it works out that way and we all live happily ever after.
However, if the situation dictates that we move on, we will have to do that no matter how hard it is to do.
Now to the topic of this thread. I think it is a creative idea but would not work. It takes more than a few days for a coach to work with a team and put a winning product on the floor.

I’ll contact Marty and Merfeld. No time to waste.

Don't look for this to be settled anytime quickly. Attorneys are generally paid by the hours they put in. So my past experience they make sure they are very thorough in what they are doing. Of course I have a low opinion of lawyers.

I think it's a great idea. Maybe have Arad's casket fill the 1st 8 chair spaces next to the scorers bench and give away "Commemorative Red Socks" to all in attendance!
