Looks like off season roster is 20 players but drops to 15 for the season. Good luck to Drew.

Here’s some clarity on what a NBA two way contact actually means:
A two-way contract is a professional sports contract that stipulates that an athlete's salary is dependent upon the league in which the athlete is assigned to play. This is opposed to a one-way contract that would pay the same salary regardless of where the athlete is assigned to play.
Two-way contracts allow NBA teams to carry two extra players in addition to the 15 on their regular season roster. These players generally bounce back and forth between the NBA and G League, but remain under team control and can't be poached by rival franchises.

He’s getting his shot. Now, it’s a matter of opportunity. Frankly, a lot of NBA teams could use a Dru Smith….good defense, team guy, hits FTs, practices hard. Listens and learns.
Evidently, the other Heat two-way contract is with Jamal Cain, a 6-7 forward. Essentially, both Dru and Jamal are the first 2 non-roster reserves for the Heat. If Miami has a guard go down, Dru may get his shot. If a forward is needed, it’s Jamal’s turn.
The other advantage for both is exposure. The fact that Miami likes them both on some level, also makes them visible to other NBA teams for immediate help through a trade.
I remember former WKU star Courtney Lee. who had a nice 10+ year career in the NBA. You never know. Maybe Dru will also be fortunate to land a spot and get a few NBA years. Wish him all the best.

I will admit that I was pretty mad when Drew transferred. But I believe he wouldn't be where he is today, playing for the Miami Heat.Drew played 6 minutes last night and scored 2 points, good job Drew.

Dru turned out to be a real diamond in the rough. Who would have thought he would be playing in the NBA and Kristian Lander would be riding the bench at WKU.
