For those of you who follow recruiting pretty closely, back in 2016, UE offered a kid named Connor Niego, but he opted to commit to Holy Cross. He just announced that he was transferring from Holy Cross yesterday. This kid looks legit. He averaged 8.8/5.1/1.2 in 29.8 mins. He's 6'8 212 lb. www.verbalcommits.com/players/connor-niegoHere is some of his highlights. Here is the link to the YouTube video. He'd be a huge get for us in my opinion.

I like his game. Pretty agile for his size and can do a little bit of everything. I would like to see some interest shown his way by UE. What would really be nice is if he could play right away. We would get a piece to the puzzle, with only a 2 year commitment.
Maybe we could go with a three headed monster in the middle to make up for the lack of a true big. Possibly this kid, DeAndre and Trey or Evan. That would be some good size down low, especially if everybody committed to defense and rebounding.....of course we could still be able to find a true center this year to go along with Niego.

I haven’t done any research but a previous post says Connor is a redshirt sophomore. That means he would have two years of eligibility at UE.
Personally I like players of this type on our front line. We are not likely to get the big, strong #5 who has all the tools so unless one comes along get Connor’s type of player. He’s proven he can play at the D-1 level and has all the tools of a power forward. He can shoot the 3, finish around the rim, rebound and play defense. As I recall, a couple of TL’s best big men at Butler were this type of player (or was that Brad Stevens).
I think to rebuild the program after last year’s meltdown, we need players who can contribute with impact as quickly as possible. We must build a successful winning culture to get us back on track for the future. Dick Walters did an excellent job of jump starting the program and Jim Crews built a solid program until the rug got jerked from under him. TL can be the jump start for the next coach to put us on solid ground for years to come.
Let’s hope TL can land Connor Niego along with Trey Hall and fill any remaining scholarships with similar players. Our future should be bright.

Is there any way that Coach Lickliter reviews the posts on this forum? If not, can the moderator get it to him?

It does say redshirt sophomore but it looks like he has played three years with the fewest games he played in a year being 10 games. So unless that year didn’t count against him he would have just one year of eligibility. Can anyone confirm if he would have one or two years of eligibility? Thanks. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4280071/connor-niegoThis site says a junior and most sites have not been updated for next year yet.

Go get him now! Big guy who can shot and has some athletic ability. Exactly what we need. Sure he isn't huge - but I'd take someone like him over a 7 foot stiff any day. And even if he's only got one year - that's fine because hopefully we can sign Sisley for the following season. That should mean he can play right away right?

Here's what it said:
F Connor Niego (6-8, 212). Former school: Holy Cross (8.8ppg, 5.1rpg): New school: ?
Comments: Solid forward who is coming off his best season. Will have one year left and did shoot 42.9% from beyond the arc in his sophomore season. Somebody will take a chance.

I would sign him, despite having only one year of eligibility. Can give you a quality year and gives TL more time to find another center the following year. A front line of Hall, Deandre, and Niego would be very interesting.

Thanks Tom.
I’m sure TL doesn’t need our help on how to fill his roster over the next couple of years, but when the eligibility expires for the upcoming senior class we are going to need some big players across the front line. Even if Connor has only one year it’s going to occur in a year we will need the help. Sitting out next year will give him time to integrate his skills with those who will be here during his eligible year.

With DeAndre gone, Niego could be a huge player for next year
