The interesting part of this is that in the days before streaming, those of us who didn't get to see the Aces never actually got full appreciation of the good/bad/ugly moments. The only games on TV where I was living in the 70s and 80s were the conference tournament games -- in conferences where Loyola or DePaul were involved. I maybe saw 15 Aces games on TV in 10 years.
Folks who remember some of these players having seen them play, you are luckier than I am. I am leaving it up to you to include personal memories.

the week before eastern Michigan manhandled evansville most people around where we sat in section N complained of their players being Detroit bums different times back then different attitudes but I remember how they were knocking the crap out of the Evansville guys
for that championship week of games you could buy all session general admission pass for $7.50 at championship game I bet you there wasn't 2000 people at Roberts stadium didn't even opened out the old woodies that would be like keeping the curtains up at ford

The pre-season NIT wasn't all that important but it wasn't nothing, either. Those were the years when UE actually played IU during the season. Not sure when that series ended. Honestly, I'd rather play Butler now.

March 1, 1980 ... the Indy News didn't take the new MCC very seriously, even with Butler in it. The Aces won this one 80-67 (Bullock 24 pts) ... and the speculation on that was UE would make the NIT. The NCAA was not mentioned in the News or the Star. They lost to Loyola and didn't make the NIT, which had expanded to 32 teams. Finished 18-10. Okla City won the tournament over Loyola and did not get an NIT bid. (Also note here in the clip that USI was known as I-State Evansville at the time.) Indiana won the national championship, in case you cared. (he-he). But the first MCC tournament under Dick Walters was a place to start.
