I hope we take a look at Ashton Williamson. He's a 6'2 PG from Sunrise Academy and played HS at Gary 21st century. An athletic playmaker who can create and get to the basket.
Currently has offers from Western Kentucky and Northern Illinois.

Nick Baumgart’s notes on him from November 2023:
“5th-year PG Ashton Williamson is at Sunrise Christian doing a post-grad year. Always been one of the best athletes in 2023 in-state. The 6'4 lead guard man just moves differently than the other kids, you'll see. Esp with the ball in his hands. For that reason, I call him, "twitchy, shifty, and itchy." He's fast end to end. I've watched him for 4 years now. I always thought, if the young man wanted to be *coached* and wanted to *work*, he's got a raw skillset u can't teach. Big, bouncy PG who has reclassified to '24; MM D1 -NAIA might wanna kick the tires on him. Maybe he needs a year at Juco too. That experience would surely be good for him, too. But if he sticks with basketball in college, doesn't get discouraged, keeps improving... he's dynamic.”

21st is a charter school, so their record is probably tilted toward talent more than coaching. But they do play a comparatively tough schedule.

Somebody a year ago thought Louisville should take a chance on him; bigredlouie.com/2023/01/17/louisville-bb-recruiting-ashton-williamson-needs-offer/“… Kaleb Glenn is the third best prospect coming out of the state of Indiana at the moment and there is another member of the top ten who is not currently committed or signed to a university. He also does not have any power five offers at the moment. He is Ashton Williamson out of Gary, Indiana. Williamson is a 6-foot-2 combo guard with great length and athleticism at the guard position. He also has silky hands around the basket and is very hungry on the defensive side of the ball, which is something that Louisville needs desperately at this point in time. Right now, he currently only holds offers from Tennessee State and New Orleans. But, 247 Sports has him ranked as a three-star prospect, which is the same rating that Gabe Sisk has. He could be a diamond in the rough that is currently being overlooked. And with the state that Louisville basketball is in, he could be a great addition to the team. As of this season, he is leading his team with an average of 17.0 points per game, 9.7 assists per game, 2.9 steals per game, shooting at a 45% three-point clip, and shooting 61% from the field. Williamson could be a huge asset to this team and could help fill in at a guard position that will be left without El Ellis at the end of the season.“ Talent-wise he seems like someone to take a chance on. But he is a freshman and we already have a freshman PG coming in. Also how does he fit in chemistry-wise to what Rags is looking for? Is he coachable, etc. Talent-wise he definitely makes the cut. High assist PG who can make the three with high steal numbers.

thank you! I had not seen that. The kid can play and if we go after him will have a legit chance to land him.

He and Peter Funk follow each other on Twitter X, so he’s on their radar.

I stopped at the silky hands part since I had to dry some salve off my fingers to make sure the keyboard didn't get gummed up.

Just from the highlights Ashton seems to have all the tools to be successful in the Valley. I’m surprised that he doesn’t have more offers but the game seems to be to let someone else develop the college game then pick off the best in the portal.
I know I’ve previously said UE needs to pull college experienced players from the portal to reboot the Aces, but there are very good HS players that are not being strongly recruited as in the past. Maybe UE needs to offer Ashton for the signing period to spread out the playing class a little while mining the portal.
