Men's Hoops Set for CBI in Daytona Beach gobobcats.com/news/2024/3/22/mens-basketball-mens-hoops-set-for-cbi-in-daytona-beach.aspxMen’s basketball opens Ro CBI on Sunday gopurpleaces.com/news/2024/3/22/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-opens-ro-cbi-on-sunday.aspxGRAD GUARDS LEAD THE WAY Graduate guards Matt Balanc and Savion Lewis lead the way for the Bobcats. Balanc ranks second in the MAAC in scoring (18.2 PPG) and Lewis is third in the entire country in assists (7.4 APG). Preseason All-MAAC First Team selection Matt Balanc leads the Bobcats with 18.2 PPG and 4.7 RPG on 43.1% shooting. He's tallied double-digit scoring totals in all but one game this year. He has 14 separate 20+ point efforts in '23-24. Point guard Savion Lewis ranks third in the entire country in assists per game (7.4 APG). The graduate guard is averaging 8.2 PPG, 7.4 APG and 3.2 RPG in 2023-24. Lewis was named MAAC Player of the Week on Nov. 20 following a strong week vs. UMass, Army and UAlbany. OTIENO BACK FOR THE BOBCATS Paul Otieno has chipped in with 10.9 PPG & 6.9 RPG, shooting 63.8% from the floor (MAAC-best). Otieno scored a season-high 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting vs. Rider in Hamden (12/5), then followed up that effort with a 23-point night on 10-of-13 shooting vs. Manhattan (12/7). He posted 31 points and 21 rebounds during a pair of games at the MAAC Tournament in Atlantic City, going 14-of-18 from the field. TICE'S IMMEDIATE IMPACT Transfer Amarri Tice has added 13.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.8 SPG and 1.0 BPG during his first season at QU. Tice has five double-doubles this year. He won the MAAC Player of the Week award on 1/15 after a 20-point, 15-rebound performance at Marist. He is the only player in the MAAC this year that ranks inside the top 5 in both steals and blocks. OFFENSIVE OUTPUT Quinnipiac currently has the top scoring offense in the MAAC (77.8 PPG). The Bobcats also own the league's best average scoring margin (+6.3). DEFENSE = KEY TO SUCCESS Quinnipiac is 16-1 this season when holding opponents to less than 70 points.

Yes, nice work as always Austin on all of your pre-game information. Apparently, Quinnipiac has no fans or any interest in this tournament. The last post on their message board was March 7th. Of course, a board with virtually no activity is still better than Belmont's board. Since we are discussing pre-games and message boards, here is a little good news. If we can win our first two games, we could have a game with Fairfield. You may recall we played them in a MTE a couple of years back. Their board OTH is entertaining as hell and whoever does the Early Edition Game Notes is brilliant. I would vote them into the MVC on that alone...lol. fairfieldstags.proboards.com/thread/8559/fairfield-little-early-edition-notes

I found out Quinnipiac won the NCAA national title in hockey last year. I hope this is all they win.

Well, they aren't searching for places to sit. N. Colorado with 14 points at halftime.

I don't think Montana or Presbyterian is good enough to beat the Aces. Dang, if we had Hum, this would be a very winnable event. I think these people need to come up with a nuance to make this tournament unique. Maybe a 4-point arc or some-such. NIT is finding new ways to adapt and a lot of that is moving the game.

We are a 3.5 to 4.0 underdogs. Likely should be more being a key player down. Looking forward to the guys battling today and proving the naysayers wrong but it will be a challenge to say the least. I will be rooting the whole way.
Time to pay $30 since I can't make it to the Showplace East. Wish I could be there and cheer with fellow Aces fans.

The FloHoops video seems super clear - so that is good. Lawrence mentioned this on the general CBI thread yesterday that it was better than the last time we had to get FloHoops to watch a UE game.
Fairfield and Little Rock are warming up for their game. Aces start at 4:30 pm CST.

This tournament really stacked the game times very close. The next games are scheduled 2 hours after the previous game starts. Games almost always take more than 2 hours anymore, plus warmups for the next game. Unless Fairfield and Little Rock have a really quick game (game started at 2:45 CDT), the UE game isn't starting before 5:00 CDT.

Not sure if anybody noticed that the NIT finals are in Indy on April 8. Which is the day of the total eclipse and every motel room in the state has been booked for that date. If you plan to go, you are going to be full up against every cruiser from here to Hong Kong. With luck, all the traffic will be headed the other direction and will have left some doughnuts for you to snack on.
