Well good for him,but it still pisses me off that he abandoned his teammates at the end of the year,UE would have probably won the tournament in Florida with Ben.

I guess that NBA scouting session didn't work out so well for Ben, but at least we have another former Valley player elevating the growth of the B1G, which -- as we all know -- has dominated the national sports field for decades, starting when Don Schlundt enrolled at Indiana.

Am I supposed to be excited about Ben committing to Illinois? Well I’m not. I could really care less. We watched another follow a similar course to Memphis.
What I am excited about is seeing Connor Turnbull wearing an Aces uniform next Fall.

Two way street if you want to chase money and play elsewhere it’s your right. In the same way if a player plays for UE and doesn’t bring what his needed cut bait. If everyone wants to play the game then let’s play. I don’t wish bad on the kids that leave but goodbye.

In general I agree with this statement, but I am of the opinion that a guy like Marcus Domask (as an example) improved his draft odds by playing his final year at Illinois (versus staying at SIU.) The year at Illinois showed that he could successfully perform against competition that is perceived to be better than that in the MVC. Scottie Pippin wasn’t a D1 player and he turned out to be a great NBA player.

Phil Jackson played at North Dakota. George Gervin was at E. Michigan, which was not D-1 (University Division) at the time. I won't mention Earl Monroe or Walt Frazier if nobody asks. Or Don Buse. I will await some evidence that Ben Humrichous is in the same talent scale as those guys.

The times I saw Ben in person I thought he had a decent shot, Was a decent defender, not a great finisher. Watching NBA games, these guys are on another level and it’s not really close. I see him as a 20 minute per game guy at Illinois and an overseas pro. Nothing wrong with that, but anything more is unrealistic expectations. As stated earlier, let’s move on and focus on who we have. I think we will be better next year than last and if we finish out strong in the portal We could be a top three MVC team.

I might recommend shoving Ben's profile off to its own page eventually, where it can live out its life the same way those of other transfer players did. In some ways, though, it's fun to watch players move into the upper level and succeed. If nothing else, it shows the coaching staff was able to land players that are worth more than Alex Matthews or Marcus Henderson, who also left for greener pastures and ended up in one.
On an unrelated tangent, maybe UE should schedule Tiffin next year for its exhibition game.

After 35 years, I think this is UE finally fulfilling our end of the agreement for the Scott Haffner trade. Ben is good, but think we got the better deal. Now if Cam Haffner regains his 3 pt form next season, then it becomes an even better deal for us.

Plenty of time to discuss all this but I thought the team this year was one that actually got better at times when the 2nd team came onto the floor. As the season wore on, that was less the case with Hum being hurt, Hughes wearing down a little, and Kalle not developing the way we'd hoped. So to me, that's the bar they set without engaging another conversation about Gage Bobe. If that's the way the Aces intend to recruit in the future, it's great to see that it isn't a matter of beating somebody out for playing time, it is a matter of how to maximize the roster. That may be the only solution to Portal Madness.
