Total points last 5 games With Ben missing 1. Ben 59 Kenny 58 Bobe 42 Haffner 38 Toumi 36 Thomas 35 Cuff 29 Bailey 28 Hughes 19 I’m assuming this is in response to the “best 5” comment. Points don’t necessarily paint the full picture due to difference in minutes, so I checked their all per 40 min numbers, and it correlates a lot more with the points list than I thought it would: Ben 19.3 Haffner 19 Kenny 16 Chuck 15.3 Toumi 13.9 Bobe 13.3 Thomas 10.7 Cuff 10.6 Hughes 8.7 A starting 5 of Ben, Haffner, Kenny, Chuck, and Toumi would simply not work with Chuck playing PG, so sub in Antonio and you have our original starting lineup. I’m not sure what the “play our best 5” guys are looking for these days. It’s hard to keep up with if we’re mad at Bobe, Strawbridge, Toumi, or anyone else, but I think these numbers prove we’re playing our best lineups for the most part. Stick to what we’ve been doing and go with the hot hand between Bobe, Haffner, and Chuck, and hopefully we can reel out a few wins. I know points don’t mean the best 5, and minutes go into the equation. Really to me the most improved over the last couple of weeks during our losing streak has been Haffner, I’m hoping he will have a break out year next year. I feel like Cuff and Bailey have really struggled at times the last 5 games.

I think Hughes has passed up some open looks in the past 10 games. He is a great shooter, but possibly as a newbie his confidence is not where it needs to be. We need a quick guard that can break down defenders, take it to the rim or kick out to a guy like Josh on a pick and pop.

I think the scouting report has definitely caught up to Cuff with some opponents, and Bailey forces things too much at times. Both deserve PT, but a Cuff Bailey Haffner Ben Hughes lineup like some on here seem to want would do us no good in STL. I think Rags is doing the best with the pieces he has, and we’re still a few pieces away from having a legit shot in STL. That said, anything is possible in a single elimination tourney and I believe in these guys to win a few games if they play to their best the next few days. Hopefully they peak at the right time. I like Haffner to have a good year next year too, and I think some quality minutes from him will be the difference in how far we can go in STL.

I know I pissed off a lot of you on this thread with my bad grammar and dislike for Bobe , Strawberries oops I mean Strawbridge and Thomas but if you think for once that we stand a chance in the conference tourney with the same game plan you are drunk and delusional. Cuff and Bailey just won All Bench team and Bailey probably will be All Freshmen team that should tell you who to play more at this point of the season. Those votes come from a committee across the league. If they see it then that should tell us something because that coming from unbiased opinions. Yes Bailey has been playing inconsistent down the stretch but his minutes have been inconsistent too. He only played 6min vs Indiana State them 18 the next game. As a young player how can you be effective if your own coach is not showing confidence in you. Same thing with Cuff he been up and down. And this all started when he started playing Gage Bobe.. It thru the whole rotation off. How do you go from barely playing to starting? Bobe wasn’t playing at all now he starting mid season and we have lost 10 out of the last 15 games. He play 6min vs Bradley off the bench then the very next game started and played 30mins vs Missouri State and we been downhill since. SMH This is the same core from last year losing team Bobe, Strawbridge, Toumi. I swear I hope we change up something because I really think this team can do some damage but we can’t do nothing with this group leading the charge. hell start Sekou if you gonna start Bobe LOL No shade thrown I’m Justaacesfan!

I think Bailey has be given about 20 minutes a game all session and should know his role, reduced minutes in a particular game probably had something to do with ill advised shots or turnovers in that particular game. I don’t think Bobe has taken Cuff’s minutes at all, Cuff is a point guard Bobe isn’t. I think Bobe took Haffner’s minutes. Like I have told Sect 3, when you have guys on the coaching staff that have played at a higher level than you, and are with these guys practically 24/7 what are your credentials to have more knowledge than them?

The scouting reports on every single player in the conference are like morning oatmeal. There are no secrets now. UE could throw a wrinkle at the Birds and that might count for 4 or 5 points. Maybe they do that. I still think these early games are up to the refs. If they call it tight, I like the Aces.

Bailey has been one of the best on the team stats for points scored per minute almost all season long, behind Ben. Even with his shortcomings. It has seem clear to me all year, he should be getting more minutes. With Ben being gone, we definitely needed some more offensive punch. My guess is that they’ve known Bailey would bail after this year ever since Wilson left the team. And that knowledge has affected his playing time. I’ve been to every single home game, and even those around me questioned Bailey not getting more minutes. I know those who don’t agree with that, and I understand their views, but I won’t blame Bailey for leaving. An imperfect Bailey is better than some of our other players IMHO. It’s not like others have not taken questionable shots or dribbled into traffic.

If he leaves and he continues that style of play, he will be moving on to another spot the year after. He’s great for short spurts. But if he plays longer than 6 minutes we have multiple one and dones. If he misses, no one is rebounding for him, other team goes down and scores. He doesn’t pass the ball for assists. Great player, but no problem with his minutes. To me, he sucks the air out the team. So, getting all the points and elevating HIS status means nothing. Kenny gets criticized for padding his stats, which is crazy cuz the kid averaged 10 points. But, there’s really no recognition of a player who is strictly trying to get his. I hope he stays and learns how to play the game the right way. When he gets it, he will be awesome

It’s funny how you’ll can break a freshman game all the way down but can’t see the real deal which is the seniors can’t get it done.

Seniors can’t get it done and neither has anyone else to the extent we want. But this is the team we have this year. So we have to make do with what we have. Seniors are better basketball players right now than others. That’s our team.
