If you were not there tonight, you missed it. The entire section was loud and really got into the game. At one point during a time out, we shouted down the ISU cheer squad and pep band. Raucous crowd, and met a couple of guys from the board. We walked in like we owned the place, and that was that. We noticed you all. Best Fans!

The guys played with tremendous effort. The shots didn’t fall, but they didn’t let it affect their defense. They played with toughness and are playing tomorrow because of it. Bobe’s effort on Kinziger was a huge thing tonight. The only mistake he made tonight was going under a screen on Kinziger late in the second half leading to a wide open 3. Thomas and Chuck played under control tonight and performed well. Ben struggled offensively but still made some big time shots in the second half. Gotta rest up for tomorrow. There’s nothing to lose.
Bobe also had that nice spin move and finished at the rim with under 2 to go -- that was big! I did notice that error on going under the screen, hopefully they are being coached differently.
I am happy with the coaching this year, but see lot's of room for improvement. e.g. when we were struggling to inbound the ball near the end of the game and it got swatted out of bounds twice, then on the third inbound pass it was lobbed in right under ISU's basket. It almost ended up being a turnover. Where is the coaching for this scenario with a set play?
Bottom line, this was a huge win, considering the alternative was ending the season on an 8-game losing streak.

I am very proud to be an Aces fan after this win. The one thing no one can ever say about this game is that we did not have every player giving everything they had from start to finish. We missed a lot of open shots and made it tougher on ourselves than it should have been. We were the aggressor from the tip and never trailed despite some long stretches of not scoring.
Hats off to Toumi. He deserved the belt if for nothing else than knocking down his free throws, his biggest weakness. He played a heck of a game at both ends. Nice to see Ben come back with a nice 2nd half after a tough shooting first half.
I was glad to see us play about ten guys which helps the legs for our next game within 24 hours. It will be a huge task to take out a really good Drake team but you never know. I see we are a 13 point underdog. Based on effort alone I would take the Aces and the points if I was a gambler. For us to pull off the upset we have to shoot the ball really well from the field and the free throw line and have single digit turnovers and play our best game of the season. It can be done ! Go Aces !!!

Down goes SIU in 2 OT's! Rivera for UIC was incredible tonight.
Murray State, Valpo, Illinois State, and SIU are now gone.
By the time UE plays tomorrow night, the Aces will be one of 6 teams left.

UIC beats SIU in double overtime. A lot of speculation on the Saluki board, much prior to tonight, that Mullins was gone. This game may have cost Mullins his job, and maybe saved Yaklich's for another year. Some even compared Mullins to a Marty Simmons redo. Interestingly, one poster defended Marty, saying the Ballentine/Mock teams were more fun to watch than anything Mullins has done. I didn't think he was qualified for the hire, but he did finish 6th this year when they were picked 9th. I would give him another year. Dana Ford will be another hot-seat that will be interesting as well. Seemed like he was good as gone. Does the complete lockdown of Murray change anything?

I think Dana has to make it to Saturday, and maybe even Sunday, to save his job. I thought Mullins would’ve been safe after overperforming this year, but he is in year 5 and did so bad recruiting in the offseason that expectations were low enough for him to finish sixth and exceed preseason expectations. I’d probably give him one more year to see if he can help himself in the portal this offseason, but I wouldn’t be optimistic it works next year if I was an SIU fan. May just be time to pull the plug like some fans want.

They just look like a group of players all wearing the same jersey without much cohesion. We saw that in Ragland's first year. They really did do better than they should have. That may be the way of the future for programs that see half or more of their roster leave every spring for greener pastures.

SIU did pretty well this year considering the hit they took do to the horrible transfer portal. Good lord they lost 2 damn good players in Demaskus and Jones. One starts for Illinois and the other is a starter for Purdue.

Great win for the Aces!! That was a very gutty effort - guys diving all over the floor - players getting elbowed in the face - that game had it all. So proud of the effort they gave last night cause that game was a 100% effort victory. Hopefully more of the shots will drop today.
We will be heading over to STL today to join the Aces section - hopefully we will see payback for that ridiculous half court shot that beat us here.

Good lord they lost 2 damn good players in Demaskus and Jones. One starts for Illinois and the other is a starter for Purdue. They had some tough losses for sure, but those guys are studs in the big ten and he wildly under performed with them on the roster for 4 years. Then when they left, he failed to get any talent in the portal to offset the lost. If Xavier Johnson hadn’t taken a massive leap this year, they’d be worse than UIC. I’m not sure what the SIU admin will do, but I doubt the fan base or anyone in the ADs office is going to accept the loss of Domask & Jones as an excuse.
