18-5 final ...lots of hitting against pitchers who threw a lot of pitches. Widder HR in the first, Scherry a granny in the 8th. Aces website says the Sat. morning game is NOT on TV. ESPN+ is indicating that it is on ... 12 starter. Box stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=502718

This team is going to boost morale for us this Spring. It's been a tough year in most of the other sports --- speaking of, the softball team is now 0-13 ---

If you get an ace, you win every game. They need to fix softball. It's boring.

Smith and Deverman in today's DH. First game is at 1 p.m., not noon. ESPN+ is still showing it as a noon streamer. I am guessing the UE people have a better idea than that.
Aces as a group have a 1.02 OPS, which is seriously BA-DASS. Most of this is without Chase Hug, who's maybe the best hitter on the team from the left side.
Shallenberger moving up some of the charts as a draft pick. If he had more HR power, he'd be really high. Deverman's WHiP is 0.82 in 11 innings, which is beginning to move out of the small-sample-size arena. K:BB rate of 9:0.

Currently, it appears they are a couple yards off the rubber at the point of release and it gives the hitters very little time for reaction at that distance.

Currently, it appears they are a couple yards off the rubber at the point of release and it gives the hitters very little time for reaction at that distance. No idea why the women decided it was the version of the sport they needed to embrace. I guess competition brought it to the surface. As in all things, when competition is the goal, the teams with the resources will find ways to compete better. Some of these women can LAUNCH the thing with spin and rise. Oklahoma is all the proof you need that semipro pitchers have ruined the game. Up this way, a few years back, little Whiting H.S. won three state titles with one girl throwing 96 pct of the games and winning 95 pct of them. It was a joke. At the 1A level, the odds of a school finding a competitive pitcher are once in a generation. Move the pitcher rubber back, you have to make the dimensions bigger. It would make for more base running. I'd move the bases back to 70 feet as well.

May have to settle for a split today. Smith/Harris/Jarvis .............. um ... not so good. Our younger starting pitchers are doing better than our two experienced starters so far. A small sample size so far; but we need more out of our top two starters (Smith and Schultz). gopurpleaces.com/sports/baseball/stats/2024/pdf

Smith obviously is no longer the Friday starter and I assume that is temporary. FTW was seeing the ball pretty well, it appears. UE is going to depend on its offense for the time being but it's still too early to be overreact to this.

Word is out: Don't piss off the Purples. The 2nd game isn't going quite the way the Elephants intended.

Jakob Meyer pitching himself farther down the bench. FTW has 2 hitters who can beat you and Meyer makes it quite easy for them to accomplish that. Carroll has some work to do with the pitching.
