Haffner’s defense has been outstanding during this stretch. He’s eventually going to be very good for us.

Missed free throws, layups, poor passing, forced shots with plenty of time on shot clock leads to losing games and sadly a losing record

Nice hustle play by Johnson near the end, of course his body was out of bounds when he threw it to his teammate. You'd think SIU had just won the National Championship. At least they didn't storm the court on our home floor.

Unfortunately, after a promising non conference record against some bad teams, its looking like they will end the season on a 6-game losing streak and must win in StL to avoid another losing record.

Bobe and Haffner played excellent defense on Johnson. Held him well below his average.

Our defense collapses way too easily, leaving open looks from 3 way too often. Feels like we need to play a lot more zone, but a moot point at this stage. Ragland needs to recruit some shooters who can defend. Crews was always able to find those kinds of guys. Ben struggled today, definitely not someone who would get drafted right now but he has potential. Hope he comes back next year. Bailey has lots of talent but still needs to learn how to play the college game. What works in AAU doesn’t work at all in college. Just ask Kristian Lander. When you drive the lane and 2 defenders converge on you, someone is standing all alone. Have to figure that out. Not overly hard to understand. Happened multiple times in the first half. One would have been a dunk from the opposite block. Regardless, next year should bring a lot more promise. I still think we are making a mistake not recruiting Dunham. Just some thoughts.

I feel like when we get roughed up early it totally getsin our heads the whole game, today reminded me of Murray State here and Drak away. I’m not blaming the refs, but when they allow the other teams to really body BHum and others it throws us off. Just my lowly opinion.

True but i don’t have a problem with fouls not being called against Ben when he plays ISO. I mean honestly that’s the only way to defend that. I say let them play in those situations. He just has to finish better.

When we tried to match their physicalness we got called for the foul. Refs knew that’s not our character. What would have offset that, fast crisp passing until we found the open guy. Unfortunately, we played into their hands and went 1on1

I watched USC play UCLA last night and during the first half I thought I was watching the UE defense. UCLA was surrounding the paint and was chasing the ball. USC was making quick passes until they found the open shooter and bang let it fly. They ended up 8-18 from the 3.

Marty’s defenses had the same problem: Doubling and then scrambling to recover and get to the wide-open three-point shooter.
