UE colors are Purple white and orange. SIU colors are maroon and black. Can anybody, with any common sense, explain why UE pick this game to wear an opponent colors. A blackout for this game Ziggy and Belz biggest mistake since they been here.

Maybe to confuse SIU to think their fans are booing them or cheering for the wrong team?  BTW, not sure I pass the "any common sense" test. Update: I think GoSIU88 answered this better below but I still understand the gist of the question since purple and orange are traditionally more our colors and the UE attire/colors that people are more likely to have to wear. |

Black is a secondary color...official school colors are maroon and white. Every AD we've had says the same thing: alums hate black. I cringe every time I see black uniforms on our athletes and cheerleaders. That's why the new logo, introduced in 2019, is maroon and white with no black. The exception to the "black" rule is the Blackout Cancer games where fans can bid on jerseys used during the game and have their name or another put on the back. A former football player petitioned the NCAA for permission to do it. He handwrote letters and finally got approval back in 2010. We have Blackout games for football and men's and women's basketball. Proceeds from the auction to help pay expenses for patients and their famiies undergoing treatment for cancer. |

This never was about SIU other than the idiotic idea that we need a black out at the game on Sunday. The SIU facts are "Colors in the primary color palette are the only acceptable colors in which the logomark and signature may be reproduced.
SIU Maroon (preferred)
Black
White (reverse)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW."

So who gets the assignment to try to slow down Xavier Johnson? Antoine? Gage? By committee?
He comes in averaging 22.8 ppg, 6 assists a game and 3.9 rpg.
