For the third time this season, Maggie Hartwig has been named the MVC Freshman of the Week! Seems like a rinse-and-repeat at UE, recalling how Abby Feit played a career for a horrible team, waiting for it to get better and never did. Is Hartwig facing the same fate? Comparisons don't end there ... if Mason-Striverson is a version of Anna Newman.

If we avoid the sophomore slump with Hartwig and Navaeh Thomas, then one or two of the newbie guards turns out to be a player (i.e. does not turn the ball over, can dribble and can hit from range) -- we could be in for a big turnaround next year. I love Kynidi's grit, but we need to avoid nights of shooting 1-10.
Having watched many games this year -- I can say we were one good player away from 10 additional wins this year. Many close games where we ran out of gas in the 4th qtr.

Kynidi doesn't handle the ball under pressure as good as Anna. I feel her best role is coming off the bench. Ball handling just doesn't seem to be one of her strengths. Right now Tene is the better PG despite being a freshman, in my certainly unqualified opinion. The gal coming in from Memorial might be one of the answers on both outside shooting and ball handling. Retain Gerke and Palomo, I think we've got a competitive team.

…The gal coming in from Memorial might be one of the answers on both outside shooting and ball handling… There a ranking in this thread above from October’23 ranking the top 26 players in the state of Indiana. Two of our incoming recruits were on the list: #8 Camryn Runner, Hamilton Heights (5’9”) #25 Avery Kelley, Evansville Memorial (5’6”) Camryn seems to be the better shooter and offensive player (by far) from the stats; but I’m guessing her level of competition might be lower (not 100% on that though). But she is rated pretty high on this list, so I’m guessing that she might be the offensive guard we are looking for. Avery might be a better “point guard”/ball handler (simply based on her size). Her offensive numbers and percentages are much lower than Camryn though (but that could be due to the level of the competition) - not sure. www.courierpress.com/story/sports/high-school/2023/10/23/indiana-high-school-girls-basketball-top-players-in-2024-class-seniors-recruiting-rankings-ihsaa/71213995007/
