MoSt is 16-6 overall. Let’s hope for 3 in a row. As much as I hope that we win this game, on paper, I just don’t see this realistically; it will certainly be a tough game to win. MSU is the third best conference team, record-wise and is 16-6 overall and 10-3 in the conference. We are 4-20 overall and 2-11 in the conference but playing a little better recently (with close wins over Valpo and SIU). mvc-sports.com/sports/wbballBut that is why they play the games - you just never know. Tied 33 all with two minutes to go to the half. Hopefully we pull this out.

We're getting killed on 2nd chance points, 9-0. MoSt. has 6 offensive rebounds to our goose egg.

Rebounding and points in the paint seem to be the areas that are hurting us leading to five more field goals for MSU and more possessions. MSU with eight more rebounds and a 6-0 advantage in offensive rebounds; a 9-0 advantage in second chance points and a 26-14 advantage in points in the paint.
Despite all that we are only down four at the half. If we can improve in these areas, we have a shot.

I think the ladies ran out of gas. No offense in the 4th. They gave it their best. Just not a deep enough bench to carry them through today.

We are back in sole possession of last place but we do have a very young team. If Bradley loses at UIC they would rejoin us in the cellar.
Missouri State could be tied for second place in the conference if #2 Belmont loses at #1 Drake today.
100% agree with Lawrence’s assessment from the little bit that I saw today: Great effort with a short bench - just ran out of gas at the end. They do seem to be playing better though in their last three games.
Update: Missouri State who outlasted us today moves into a tie for second place with Belmont who lost at Drake today (77-71). Bradley is joining us in the cellar after losing at UIC today (68-47).
Next up is Indiana State on the road Thursday. A win is not out of the question. The game after at Illinois State will likely be a harder to win but not impossible.

The refs in the Valley call too damned many fouls. If you have 3 players with 4 fouls in the last 8 minutes of a game, it's obvious their defense is going to suffer. When there's no bench, the coach tells them to stay back in a zone and wait for teams to drive the lane or get wide open 3's. That's how teams lose. Obviously there are other reasons that impact it, but to be honest, the Valley refs have ruined the women's game with their insistence on ticky tack fouls early in the game. Misery State didn't fare much better but the difference in experience and depth = a lot of points.
