We had guys flash to the lane several times, wide open, but either the pass was not made or it was late.
On the defensive end, we allowed their big guys to set the high ball screen, then roll uncontested to the rim. Put a body on those guys and do not allow them to the lane unless they barrel over you. Something is messed up with our defensive scheme or or our guys simply cannot play the physical game.

My opinion on our current losing streak. 1.Our defense is horrible, inside and perimeter. 2.Offense is stagnant, to much dribbling and no movement off the ball. 3.We are not driving to the basket to draw the foul. 4. Our PG players are horrible, all of them. 5.We have no one who can consistently hit the 3,the 3 point shot dictates if you are going to win or lose a game, look at the Blue Turds. 6.And lastly, losing Ben to a injury is not a reason to lose games by 30 points,he would have made a difference against Mo.St. but not the other games.

We know now that he has been cleared to eat lunch and brush his teeth. We also know that a credible source is still not identified and that's the end of the story.

Probably didn't make a difference, but that called foul on Strawbridge (while on the floor) with 5 minutes left was horrible. No it did not make a difference. But the amount of contact allowed (which I don't have a problem with) does not jive up with the tic tac fouls for contact the Aces (especially Cuff) were called for. The clip I attached was late in the game with the Aces taking the ball out of bounds under their basket. Clay had his left arm completely around Toumi's back with the back referee (not in the clip) in full viewable position. No call. Attachments:

There must be something to it if the Indiana State fans are calling it out for us. From the ISU board:
For all the people on here who like to complain about the officiating we get at home, Evansville is at home and has been called for 7 fouls to Missouri State’s 1 with about 8 min left in the half.
Missouri State’s whole offense seems to be drive the ball until you hear a whistle
Which let the Bears go on that big run and take the lead.
Since, 5 Bears fouls to no more for the Aces and the Aces are promptly back in front.
I couldn't recognize who the one official that seemed to keep whistling us was. He was the one who blew the whistle on Strawbridge on the ground. Then dug his ass in on the replay. I am not a conspiracy theorist for the most part, but seeing a physical team like Missouri State start both halves with 1 or 2 fouls to our 7-8, really, really makes you wonder.
Ragland is such a positive guy, but there are times I think he may be too nice. He should of lost his ass on that replay. I doubt very few people in the arena would have been upset if he got t'd up over it. Crews used that as motivation and sometimes it worked.

When two or three guys on a team go to halftime with 2 fouls -- and in Cuff's case, a dealbreaker 3 fouls -- it stops mattering at the end when the refs can see that the players are tired and the outcome has already been skewed. I am not saying they are homers or are necessarily incompetent, but the truth is, all games are created equal until the first tipoff. I recall games where they let Gage Prim literally camp out in the lane, which allowed him to get into a free throw groove. Cuff got 2 of his fouls basically for being off-balance. Neither of those affected the play. I hope this doesn't sound like whining. UE has a pretty good team that is just not playing very well against teams that probably are 3-or-4 points better -- but not 28 points better. I'm at a loss to blame anybody except the officials, who have been pretty inconsistent over the last few years. When a team is struggling, everything amplifies that.

Watching the replay of the Strawbridge play Kyle Peach remarked that the review was to see if the foul was intentional and who was fouled. He said the act of the foul was not being reviewed and would not be overruled.

Yup, KS got called for the unusual foul of “Falling Down in the way of an opponent” and then they reviewed it to see if it was intentional. The stupidity was incredible from last nights crew. Bottom line, this is a physical game, and it gets more physical as the season goes on. Teams can offset that with above average 3 pt shooting, which we don’t have right now.

Aces shooting %s last night: 2PFG: 9-35, 26% 3PFG: 12-27, 44% (that's a quite a bit above average)

As a former official in another sport I can say that I never saw or heard anything that would lead me to believe another official was intentionally making calls to affect the outcome of a game. However I have observed calls that were highly questionable or wrong. We must remember though that calls are made in realtime and not always with a clear view that some fans have.
With the above being said, fouls called or not called can affect the outcome of a game. With UE having such a thin bench and Hummer being out it doesn’t take much to take UE out of the game. Once again it appeared UE was on the wrong side of the officiating. Substitution patterns were affected, individual play was affected and possibly the outcome was affected.
To understand how all this affected the UE game we only have to read the lips of Coach Rags after a time out was called after one of the bad calls when he jumped up and screamed out a giant M-F for the whole arena to hear. I’m sure Coach regretted the outburst in front of all the fans but not the reason for it.
We cannot change bad officiating or missed calls but the team needs to do a better job of playing through them. We can’t change losses to wins but as CB3 said we need to start playing tougher.

IF you shoot average from 2pt, and above average from 3pt- sometimes you can overcome being physically outmatched. In this case we shot 26% from 2pt which did us in (Didn’t think I needed to say that, but there you go)

If we shoot 44% of our 2 pt shots we make an additional 6 good for 12 points and the win. Hughes did his best Hummer imitation but could not make everyone else.better.

We are still not where we need to be on talent, I feel we are trending up on talent level which will hopefully translate into more victories sooner rather than later. I was told by my inside source 2 weeks ago that the coaches feel the two recruits we have signed Battle and the other kid a point guard they would be getting about 20 minutes a game if they were here this year. So more help is on the way. I’m still hoping we can get healthy and win some more down the stretch.

I wish I had a dollar for every inside source I've heard about here but not if I had to return $1.10 for every time they were wrong.
