Meh, it's a pretty good Aces team. Not a great team and when 2 top players are out, that's what happens.

Our offense was so greatly lessened the second half - just the time in the game when Bailey and Ben usually took over. I do think Cuff needs more playing time and thought Ragland should have started him the 2nd half to continue the great play of the first half. When something's working as well as it was the first half, why change it?
We will have a difficult time winning any future games without B and B. Hope they heal fast. Toumi has improved light years, but Bobe and Haffner seem to be stuck; those 3's just aren't falling???

Cincinnati just absolutely played better defense in the second half. They pressured our players farther out on the court and we looked like a deer in the headlights. No time to cry as we played at Terrible Haute.

The Aces slip 3 spots in this morning's NET rankings. They are currently #96.
The MVC currently has 5 teams in the top 100 NET rankings:
Indiana State - 27 Drake - 74 SIU - 92 Evansville - 96 Missouri State - 100 UNI - 124 UIC - 127 Bradley - 130 Belmont - 147 Illinois State - 200 Murray State - 272 Valpo - 309

These guys can beat anybody in the Valley with the roster they used last night -- it's a matter of playing better for 40 minutes. Having 2 more top players means beating "any" of those teams is a touch less difficult.

We had one enjoyable half and that is one more than we have been accustomed to on the road against that level of competition. We covered the spread with two very key players missing. All things considered, the train is still on the tracks.

The defense only gives him hurry shots. They respect his shooting or they would not be sticking to him like Velcro. Shutting him down has not prevented the Aces from winning 10 games before January. Perhaps the attention given to him has freed up the others a bit. We'll know things are bad when they begin to collapse and allow him to shoot. I don't see that happening so the extra attention he gets is a net positive. My glass is half full.

I have hope that Haffner will break out of his scoring slump. I keep thinking that DJ will help him do just that. I know that opposing teams defend him well, but surely his talent can't be shut down forever. Some posters on here, much more discerning than I, see points in his shooting technique that are affecting his shot accuracy. I love that about this site...we have people who have technical knowledge that I appreciate learning. As you know (those who know me), I am an emotional fan and view the game through those eyes.
Love my ACES!

Love my ACES! At this level, the speed of the game is different, but not noticeable. We are talking tenths of a second. That shot he was getting last year where he was curling off of a screen and getting square on, he is having to lean because the opponent is just a tenth of a second quicker in contesting the shot. It is something that he will learn to work through, but still needs time. I talked with Cam’s dad in Louisville, and to no surprise, he is not used to the free flowing system yet that Rags is running, and while I do see parts of a motion offense in it, it is definitely not a structured system that he is used to

He is often just a bit off balance when shooting and not quite squared up - not a lot of catch and shoots. Since many of our opponents so far have been OVC teams, I would argue that a new offense may be a bigger difference for him than the level of opponents. He is a good shooter and will come around. Or maybe he is just in a slump and is due for a run of hot shooting - just in time for league play!

Just noticed CB3 at the Women’s game. It looks like his thumb is taped for support. So maybe it’s not serious.
