A very complimentary article on Ragland, the Aces, and Evansville. heatcheckcbb.comOverall a great article, but they could have left out Goodman's "annonymous" poll. I get it was during the Spencer/Lickliter wake, but some of that is pure BS..facilities, resources, budget, history/tradition. Hell, our lone big positive at that point was history and tradition. What did they go back, 10 years? It is a storied program and a damn shame we had to endure 20 years of leadership and coaching that didn't appreciate that. Ragland certainly gets it as does Ziggy and President P. That is how you turnaround a program and we are starting to see it.

Hope we can bring back the rocking environment he describes several times in that article. This team deserves a lower bowl sellout on Saturday

I think the part about sliding into obscurity is really a key point. This outfit was challenging Chicago State for being the worst basketball program in the Midwest. It's where a lot of "D-3" talk began. That is the bottom line to me. I think they realize how close they were to utter failure. I won't blame it all on Spencer, but I will blame Spencer for putting people in place who should get the blame.

Good article.
I agree with others that the Goodman poll showing UE as #10 program in the Valley is flawed. For example, what's the criteria for Media Exposure? No Valley schools receive national media exposure and Valley schools in large markets (e.g. Loyola and now UIC) are little fish in a huge pond. If winning, schools like UE, Drake and Bradley will lead the local sportscasts and headline the local newspaper (or website). How is INSU recruiting base rated #5 and UE is #10?
BTW - I've never heard Evansville referred to as the Crescent Valley and I grew up there. I may have heard it called the Crescent City a few times although I think that's really a reference to New Orleans.
