Tomancova should just be assessed her 5 fouls before the game starts and leave her off the roster. She's got a vertical jump of 8 inches and isn't slow enough yet to get beaten to the rim by a fence post.

Not seeing much here that spells optimism. This team is pretty bad.

Not saying the Lady Aces are good but Lipscomb was 20-12 last year and 13-5 in their conference (ASUN). They seem to play a respectable schedule. We definitely need to see continual improvement from our team.
Lost 77-58 giving up 56 points in the paint and shooting just 35%. They did shoot 91% from the line (10-11).

It’s definitely a team effort. Definitely picking and choosing what I post as time permits.

This could be a long season but I did see some things that I liked. Hartwig is going to be a good player. Mason-Striverson is showing leadership and a lot more control. Tomancova and DuPont need to work on not fouling but both have shown some improvement over last year. Barbera appears to have lost weight and also may be having some back problems. I don’t think they should be pressing full court. They’re to inexperienced and not quick enough. They got beat badly on the press. Their motion was ineffective and Lipscomb mostly sat back and watched them do the weave.

I don't watch a lot of these games but from the little bit that I watch and the glimpses of the box scores (past and present) it seems like they tend to have low shooting percentages and some questionable shot selection mixed in with more turnovers than you would like and a porous defense. Not a recipe for winning a lot of games. For those that follow them more closely, is this a fair or unfair assessment based off limited data/watching?
There has been some improvement the past couple of years, but the bar was REALLY low back in the Ruffing era. Hopefully we continue to take steps in the right direction this year.
E.g. On the questionable shot selection, I can't remember how many times I have seen someone drive the lane and throw up a wild, off balanced and contested shot that has pretty much no chance of going in.

You hit the nail on the head. Some of those shots are real head scratchers. They commit to drive but don’t think to pass to an open player when they get into trouble.

The defensive effort on Sorrentino was pitiful by our bigs. You have got to put a body on someone like her when she doesn't have the ball and deny her the paint. Lipscomb's guard play is way above ours. Agreed that we need to stop the man-to-man press...or at least try a trap press on the player receiving the inbounds pass.

About all of those off balanced wild shots...made me wonder if they are coaching and teaching using the backboard for bank shots? It would greatly improve the players shooting percentage.
