Halftime score tonight: Lipscomb 48, Drake 44 I'm really curious how UE fared at Lipscomb in that secret scrimmage.
Update ... Final Score: Drake 85, Lipscomb 70 - DeVries with 36 points.

Purdue-Fort Wayne knocked off DePaul the other night, 82-74. That in itself isn't that big of a deal. PFW has claimed bigger scalps over the years (Indiana) and DePaul is a middling mid-major at best still riding the Chicago TV market and what Ray Meyer did 45 years ago.
The key stat is the announced attendance AT DePaul was 931. A Big East school that can't even put 1K in the seats. We need to remember this when we freak out if less than 3K show up. We could be in a much worse position. DePaul needs to seriously consider where they are at.

Seems like as long as the Big East TV checks keep cashing and covering Depauls athletics operating expenses, their administration doesnt care that they’re the doormat of the big east. Sad for a formerly great mid major program, but I don’t see them leaving the Big East without being forced until the TV money is significantly less.

DePaul plays at Wintrust Arena which is in the McCormick Square area of the South Loop. DePaul campus is almost 7 miles north of the arena. It is advertised as only 3 "L" stops from the campus but I don't see a lot of students taking an "L" at night for a game. Parking if you choose to drive is $25.

There are teams that need to be the ones with the 9-20 record. You still have to beat them. It's been a long time since Demons moved into what my friend said at the time, "the house that Aguirre built." * Dan Godfread tip in with :02 left to win 65-63 ... announced crowd of 13,140 at Rosemont.

Brodie and DeVries will be a handful for everybody. I don't think Lipscomb could beat them 1 out of 5 tries.

Lipscomb played a good game, but Drake cranked up the defensive pressure in the 2nd half. Once Drake got the lead over 4 points, they put the pedal down and didn't let up.

Valley goes 3-3 today, with Belmont and the trees getting blown out along with Valpo losing.
Winners today were SIU, UIC, and Murray.

Quite a few interesting scores tonight.
The Sycamores got their tide rolled 102-80 by Bama.
Furman blasted Belmont 99-76
UIC got a solid win over OVC Little Rock 86-71
Murrah squeaked by former conference rival Tennessee Tech 78-72
The Salukis slapped Queens 91-68
The Lighthouses lost by 10 at home to IUPUI 66-56
A couple of mids taking out P5 schools,
Future opponent Chattanooga beat Louisville 81-71. Sadly, that probably isn't even an upset.
Davidson beat Maryland 64-61

Of course, Valley refs will make sure that doesn't happen. Louisville has already lost to Ky. Wesleyan. Man, that's just unreal where that operation has landed.

With Louisville losing again, their home attendance may start slipping to DePaul levels.
Cards fans are not happy.

Butler killed SEMO tonight 91-56. Very poor shooting by SEMO (29% from 2 and 23.8% from 3) and outrebounded 47-36. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401581163Per SEMO message board on what the line was (before the game): “…The line opened at Butler -16 1/2 and now it's at Butler -19 1/2…” They lost by 35 and were down 40 at one point. They were down 34 at halftime.

I believe the Lipscomb scrimmage was a fairly close loss (within 10) for us.

Bradley wins a really tight one over USU. The Utah States had a lid on the rim in the OT session. At least 3 in-and-out shots. Why does Bradley have a bat as its mascot? Bradley shoots free throws like the Aces did last year.

Click on the FAQ link at the following Bradley Braves link and you will find out: www.bradley.edu/sites/kaboom/#:~:text=Welcome%20to%20the%20online%20home,your%20campus%20or%20community%20event. It has to do with all of the political correctness of a few years ago related to native Americans, etc.
