It’s a little hard to find any updates on Kaia. However, from what I have found, he plays on a very good team. There are as many as eight D1 players on his team according to one article. They got out to a slow 4-3 start but now appear to be healthy and at full strength and are 11-4. They appear to be one of the better teams in the Bay Area. Earlier in the year when they had at least three losses (I think 7-3) they were ranked #4 (not sure if that was in the state or the Bay Area).
I know I’ve seen Kaia have games with like 10 points and such, but it seems like his numbers are not super impressive but that’s likely because he’s got so many good players on his team. Could Kaia be a similar player to Tanner Cuff (team first), not sure. But he’s definitely playing with good competition and his team wins. Hopefully he will bring this winning mentality to next year‘s team. We definitely will need a good PG to take us to the next level.

Checking in on how Kaia is doing ... his team, Archbishop Riordan, won the CCS Open Division Championship. Take a look at Kaia's highlight here ... he's No. 10 in white jersey. Pretty impressive!

Thanks for sharing Ace78. The amazing thing is he came in averaging 3 ppg and had nine in the biggest game of the year on the biggest stage of his high school career. So he does have some upside and has been competing with other D1 players for playing time.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about him from people who would know, but man… recruiting a guy averaging 3 ppg in their senior year of high school has me a little worried.

I completely understand the concern, but at this point I'm going to have to trust the coaching staff. They've already established their ability to evaluate talent. Hope it holds true for Berridge!

Nothing wrong with needing some development, but if he’s only averaging 3 ppg and not starting in HS, he’s definitely not ready for 20 mpg as some have suggested members of the staff have said he would be getting on this years team. He’s definitely got a lot of athleticism and things to like, but I’d be shocked if he sees significant PT like posters have suggested. Hopefully we can land a dynamic PG in the portal and allow him some time to develop to hopefully be the PG of the future when Tanner graduates in two years.

Not sure I would go so far to say that he won’t be ready for 20 mpg next year (based on the limited information we have on him). I get the feeling that he is not playing on your “normal” high school team. As previously posted I read somewhere that “There are as many as eight D1 players on his team according to one article.”
We will definitely have to trust the coaching staff on this one. He’s got height, seems like a capable ball handler (at minimum), a capable 3-point shot; only three ppg but presumably in limited minutes on a team that is loaded; and he is likely competing with athletes as good as he will see next year in college. I suspect he is Tanner-esque on making his teammates better.
But agree that the verdict is still out on him (as we just don’t know enough about him).

Well see what happens, but we really need high level MVC guard play to be competitive next year, and that is very very rare to get from a freshman. I hope they are planning to find someone else to make the most of next season still and allow him some time for development. He does definitely have a lot of attributes to give you optimism, but there’s not a lot of MVC championship teams giving a freshman significant minutes at PG.
