Well, I guess the split will be coming sooner than expected. Funny though, they award two bids to the PAC 12, and after this season, the PAC 12 will be dead. Great look there NCAA.

Not many of us non-savants could easily see this coming. They aren't consolidating the top 4 conferences into the Big 64 for no reason. The middies that have competed with them up to now can find themselves wallowing as well. The days of the 30-win Gonzaga season are nearing an end.
Might as well take the road kill money and invest it in a message board at the local arena.

So is this the first time that the NCAA has ofiicially specified certain conferences getting different treatment from the rest? It does look like this is the first step in splitting up D1. They are not saying the top NET ranked conferences at the end of the year, but the specific conferences named. Those are not necessarily the same. Preferential treatment is now the rule. Next will be no automatic NCAA bids to bottom 10 conferences, then bottom 20.

Problem is, without the enormous TV money, the mid-majors are going to starve right outside the dining room. Only the cream mid-major teams (not leagues) will be invited to the money tournaments and everyone else can hover outside the Portal and hope a Chuck Bailey just wants to play for a program because he thinks it's "home."
When the NIL money doubles in a couple of years, Chuck and guys like him will find that home isn't on Walnut Street.
The other things here, like salaries for assistant coaches well out of the reach of programs that will be stuck if they have to replace a coach or a staff member.
Women's sports are already so lopsided as to just forget it. Oklahoma winning 100-some games in a row, good luck with that. UE women go to Iowa and generously lose by 60 points. We saw better outcomes when the Aces were in the College Division.

In basketball as in life, the ones with the most money and power get all of the cream. They don't have to deserve the cream, they just have to declare that the cream is their birthright and that all of the peons who complain about a lack of cream are just envious and want everything given to them for free. It would be most merciful if the cream hoarders ended the hopes and dreams of non-P6 schools and took exclusive control of both the Big Dance and the NIT Sloppy Seconds. It wouldn't faze me in the least.
Winning the regular season MVC championship is my dream. Winning Arch Madness without winning the regular season is just a money grubbing manifestation of the P-6 cream tournaments. It's greedy creaming from a lesser cow. The Aces have already received a bid to the MVC regular season. They are guaranteed 20 games and I will see at least 10 of them in person and the other 10 on the tube. Life is good when you have your priorities straight and it's a stinky dumpster when you worship the wrong sports gods. Big Cream will be splitting from the peons, it's only a matter of time. The only question remaining is whether or not you will still tithe to them. Sadly, the answer is a resounding YES and Big Cream knows it.

I'm glad you brought up the cow as an example of "cash" and "milk", both of which are designed to cater to the consumer. Although, I'd probably not refer to these people as cows. I just don't think that's being sensitive at all.
