As for arenas, the ARC at Valpo is a complete disaster. The building itself isn't terrible but the condition of the bleachers is long past needing rehab. Maybe they can sell the street near its ever-growing footprint and rip out those absurd rollaways. Eventually the lawsuit they will have to settle will cost more than replacing those things.

Still don't know how you can spend 3 million on concessions

What I would like to see be done is the larger concession stand on the South end be utilized buy more for serving hot food and have the concession stand on the East Side mainly serve drinks and popcorn.

3.6 million dollars in concession upgrades? Really? The whole arena has been a Cluster, and Mayor W should be banned from the City for screwing the known quantity of basketball fans for the pipe dream of … checks notes… minor league ice hockey.. JEEZUS!!!
Which Mayor W are we speaking about? I did not live here when the Ford was built, so missed a lot of the politics going on during development.

Weinzapfel’s the one at fault for the hockey arena. I’d like to think Winnecke would have ensured basketball was more of a priority since he is a longtime Aces season ticket holder, but the venue opened right before he was elected.

No matter which path you take on a multipurpose arena, you will regret not having done the other. They learned that lesson the hard way with the big round ballparks that were to be for baseball and football until the beer sponsors got into pissssing matches over signage and the teams argued over sight lines, locker rooms and plastic grass, starting times, scoreboard placement.................
Evansville is like a lot of cities that want an arena for lots of reasons and one size fits all -- in the middle of the floor.
