This is crazy as DeAndre will be 27 in October.
Penny Hardaway said Thursday (9/7) “that DeAndre Williams' bid to return for another season at Memphis is still caught up in the appeals process with the NCAA.”
Correct me if I’m wrong but he has to be enrolled in classes by next week to be eligible to be on the basketball team even if the NCAA has not made a decision yet. He could always drop later or enroll in a masters program. I could be wrong, but I think he just has a bachelors degree after all this time.

He went to Septic Fields General Merchandise Mart for a high school diploma, which doesn't mean he didn't learn anything. Man, the NIL money down that way must be pretty good if he'd rather "go to college" than play professionally.

At this rate, DeAndre could become the first player to actually retire from a college basketball career. Memphis could have a ceremony and bring out a rocking chair at half-time of the last game. Is Preacher getting to sell his likeness as well?

I wonder what preacher Roy is up to these days? I can’t believe this kid (grown man) Deandre is still around college basketball 🤦♂️

His legal team? It appears, from this paragraph, that the person who claimed to be DeAndre's mentor -- Kenneth Roy -- is now being accused of being the villain.
The application stems from the 2018-19 season, in which he was enrolled at Evansville but didn’t play due to being academically ineligible. The NCAA still counted that year of eligibility against him, however, citing a “delayed enrollment” violation. Williams and his legal team allege that he received bad advice from people in position of authority while in high school, which includes having him enroll in an online institution that wasn’t NCAA accredited, and that the violation would’ve never happened without that poor advisement. To clarify, the 6-foot-9, All-AAC forward used his COVID-19 waiver to play last season, and is now trying to get that first year of eligibility back to play this season.

DeAndre's whistle stop here and his hop and a skip through life has never failed to captivate PAPworld. Every morning, just before coffee, someone here still hurting from his departure, Googles his name for the latest Earth-shattering DeAndre development. I would say to let it go but I hate being a pity party pooper. DeAndre was never going to take us (or anyone else) to the promise land. That can also be said about every player since Steve [dare I say] "The Whale" Welmer who carried the Aces on his dorsal fin to their last national title. The Whale went on to be a tremendous referee. ''He's a big moose,'' said Jim Desmond, the former chief of M.A.C. officials. Note: These terms of endearment were well before wokeness prevented us from referring to adult kids as majestic animals.
My two cents. I don't like the stain that has always been the Memphis Tigers so I hope he is granted lifetime eligibility under the condition that he remains there. Nothing about him has any bearing on this Aces season or any ahead of it.

I still believe DeAndre was going to be that one player who could have dominated a game for us and put us in the top tier of the MVC

Wow, when the NIL options are more than he could get for playing pro ball in Poland China Serbia Latvia Ireland Brazil Cairo ... nobody should get 6 years of college after getting 6 months of high school.
