Looks like Coach Snow is an assistant for the UNM Alumni team that is playing in TBT (The Basketball Tournament) thetournament.com/tbt/teams/the-enchantment-new-mexico-alumni/TBT is a 3v3 tournament of college basketball alumni that has gained popularity recently. Looks like a lot of the people that Craig tagged in his tweet have ties to ABC where Michael Day and Dylan Chavez played. Good to see Craig maintaining his strong ties to the southwest

Thanks for sharing. Scrolled through the link you provided and Sammy Dowd is also an assistant coach, presumably because of his Idaho State connections.

I see this TBT tournament is on ESPN+. Not a lot of time tonight but might pull it up and see what it is all about. Not used to “real” basketball tournaments in July. The bracket: thetournament.com/tbt/bracket/Looks like it is a 64 team single elimination tournament played in eight different cities this summer (in July and August). Tonight is “right up the road” in Lubbock. “… feature 75 players with NBA experience and 34 college alumni teams…”

I misspoke in my first post. Got it confused with the NBA alumni league that’s 3v3. TBT is a 5 on 5 tournament with bench players that is basically just the NCAA tournament for NCAA alumni that weren’t good enough to have lasting NBA careers. Still lots of good players in it. I believe Troy Taylor played for the Ohio alumni team and Aaron Craft has played for the OSU alumni team if that gives you an idea of the talent level.
64 team single elimination tournament that uses the Elam ending, so every game ends on a shot, which is pretty cool imo.
Not as structured or fluent as college or NBA ball since these guys are just coming together without much practice (if any) to play as a team, but it’s still pretty entertaining imo. Kind of like really high level playground ball.
Definitely worth a watch if you have the free time and miss basketball. I’m pretty sure the final 4 is usually broadcast on ESPN. Winner of the tourney gets $1,000,000 for the team, and these are mainly guys that didn’t have lengthy pro careers of any kind, so they’ve got plenty of motivation to go far in the tourney.

Looks like Snow’s and Dowd’s Enchantment team beat Austin’s Own team (Texas alumni) 77-66 tonight. Pretty impressive as Texas has some pretty good alumni. Not hard to see why Craig’s team won as they led in the rebounding stats 52-26. One guy (Cunningham) had 18 rebounds. fibalivestats.dcd.shared.geniussports.com/u/TBT/2284274/

For those (like me) who didn’t know what an Elam ending was, this explains it simply and clearly: thetournament.com/tbt/elam-ending/So that makes this ending to the game more clear now. I agree with Larry that this is a pretty cool way to end games as every game ends on a made shot and arguably more importantly eliminates all of the fouling at the end of a game. Note: I didn’t see Craig or Sammy in that video clip.

Game Highlights from The Enchantment vs. Austins Own, 07/17/2023. Craig seems to be sitting on the left side bench and next to the scorer's table.

Wonder if UE would be interested in trying to set up an alumni game In basketball?
How about an intramural alumni game? 😀

Football had alumni games back in the late 70s and early 80s. They ended after an injury lawsuit.
