Wes Carroll has done an amazing job with UE baseball. Perfect case here of not making a rash decision and being patient. 2 years ago people wanted him fired. What he's done at UE turning this program around is fantastic. Sweep the trees today boys!

So what may we being seeing for next season? Rumsey, Fouger, Scherry, both catchers, #1 and #2 starters, Harris, Hardman all returning. Widder, Shallenberger, Hug all eligible for an extra year??? Nothing more than a tell, but none of those 3 were in the Senior Day picture.
And what about the youngsters who look to be redshirts or saw a little PT? McCormick, Stull, Howard, Hansman, Stuart, Crawford, etc. Plus the incoming JUCO’s.
I know some of this isn’t easy to handicap, but hey… give it a shot.

Of course, the new rules on transfers makes this all an academic discussion, but UE isn't going to be in rebuild mode next year, and they should be equally competitive in the Valley, which is proving to be a very solid conference. Overall, they compete better than the Big 10, and are miles ahead of the Horizon, Summit and OVC. Those leagues have good programs but they aren't solid up and down. Carroll's recruiting class from last year showed he is being pretty aggressive in finding players, many of them inside "driving distance" from Evansville. UE announced a lot of this back in December and none of those players were particularly instrumental in this team's season -- which is not uncommon. Without context, they are just names. gopurpleaces.com/news/2022/12/20/baseball-carroll-signs-nine-in-impressive-class-for-2024.aspx

How many of these guys will be playing summer ball? I see we have a few players on the Dubois County Bombers team, but not sure how to track the other guys.

How many of these guys will be playing summer ball? I see we have a few players on the Dubois County Bombers team, but not sure how to track the other guys. Some of them played in the Northwoods League last year and I assume some will again. Cape Cod League is the considered best summer league. Northern League is in the NW Indiana area. They keep expanding. The Rex are in the Prospect League. Most of them have already started and I don't know about roster mix. DC Bombers are in the Ohio Valley League. Stull and Howard are Aces in that league. I think Maloney is as well. There is also a Great Lakes League in the Cincy area. These leagues are in towns that don't have an interest/resources for pro teams. They are fairly cheap to run. The best of the bunch is the Madison Mallards, Northwoods League -- they draw close to 6,000 a game.
