Feel free to add your own. This is keeping me from having to do something useful with my day.
UE's 15-12 conference record includes 7 defeats at the hands of teams below them in the standings, including a 3-game sweep by Belmont. Of course, the Aces swept Missouri State on the road early in the season, so the acronym is ...
Y (ou) C (an't) P (redict) B (aseball).
I gotta wonder if anybody aside from their parents believed Sicko State would go 24-3 in the Valley. I had Fleabag Egypt finishing up near the top -- and they almost did.
Best hitter in the league was Ryan Vogel of the Peoria Peonies. Vogel was tough on the Aces as well. 1.025 OPS for Vogel. That should get him a look from the scouts despite Bradley having a suck season overall. I think they were better than that. Chase Hug had a similar OPS with a few more plate appearances.
Anyone who can't lobby for Eric Roberts for POY deserves a 2x4 to the noggin. Leader in HR (21), and among the leaders in most major counting or production stats. 146 total bases. Also stole 18 bases in 22 tries.
Somewhat equivalent numbers for the top Dog from Carbondale, Pier-Olivier Boucher. Hit .333 with 15 dingers and 42 ribeyes. Steve Loden had 18 taters for the Skinny dogs.
Jarrett Blunt actually led the Aces in ERA at 3.63 though he wasn't in the top three rotation guys until late in the season.
Jake Combs of SIU was 2nd in the league with a 3.02 ERA, which might get him a look from the scouts.
Scores from the series at Carbondale:
Win 10-2
Lose 3-6
Lose 2-3 (walkoff)
