One assumes that the umpires have some control over it. It's maybe not a big deal at all. Maybe the trees by the graveyard will help. Either way, just win baby.

They could make opening round #5v8 and #6v7 games on Tuesday single elimination, then there would be no loser vs loser, 12:30pm game on Wednesday (or if they keep it at least make it the 9am game.) Winning our first game is key to avoid playing 2 games on Thursday (with another 9am start) I'm pretty sure that's how they had done it up until this year. Personally I think they should just take the top 4 to help prepare the tournament champion and usual at-large team(s) for the NCAA Tournament Regional.

A side note concerning the MVC tourney. Ziggy told me that we cannot host it because our press box is too small. Unless you're pulling our leg, that is a shame to not be able to host.

DBU has a ballpark that is rivaled by none in the Valley. Of course, they weren't exactly a "central" location. Braun Field at UE is reasonably new and if they wanted that tournament, they could make that happen. If the "press box" issue is all that's holding it back, that's really lame. Wichita was lucky enough to have the NBC tournament there every year at old Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, which was the only "pro" ballpark in the Valley. The stadium at Mo. State also has a Double-A minor-league team, so it's up to snuff. Dunno if Creighton played at Rosenblatt, which is where the Royals played until they built Werner Field. I think Creighton still plays in the CWS TDA stadium in Omaha. The Storm Chasers evidently have no use for the place. The ballpark in Normal was built for the Frontier League but they have dropped out of that now. That was one of the first ballparks with a full turf field and a "detachable" pitching mound. Bradley could host a tournament at the ballpark where the Chiefs play, although schedules being what they are, probably not. That is of course not their home field. Murray and Belmont -- no clue on either of them. UIC doesn't have much hope of holding an event and Valpo doesn't even have to answer the phone. That's a nice little ballpark at UIC, though. Valpo has a nice turf field but little else.

Not pulling your leg. I am guessing with all the additional radio crews, stat guys, MVC personnel, etc that more room is needed. With a little money there are several ways they could add some space to the current set up.
Ziggy is a smart and resourceful guy, he will figure out a solution.
An outside the box thought is using Bosse Field. Currently the outfield is pretty rough, but there have been some talks from MLB to play a game there. If that happens the necessary upgrades to the field will be made and could be usable for the MVC tourney.

I don't recall the year, but UE did host it at Bosse Field at least once. It doesn't seem like it has been more than 20 years ago, but apparently it has.
Hopefully it gets selected for the "MLB Field of Dreams Game" and the planned upgrades also make it more than suitable for both the MVC and a real A or AA minor league team.

First thing that happens after clubhouse upgrades and premium seats is the lighting. Even if you thinkit's OK, the MLB replay system is banked heavily against LED field lighting. They had this issue in Buffalo in 2020 when the Jays wanted to play there. Buffalo had to upgrade the lighting and that's not easy when you only have one tier of grandstands rather than the 3 tiers in an MLB park. But they got it done. I see a few indy ballparks have upgraded the lighting so it would behoove the city to at least put some coins away for that, if they want that Field of their Own game. Not sure UE would agree to a neutral field for the MVC if that was the only way to get it. I guess "home" is where you like it the best. Adding media space is a matter of renting a damned trailer.

UE Press Box is SMALLER than ISU's? Rent a industrial-sized forklift and place a trailer on it for a week! Didn't SIU host the Tourney a few yrs. ago? Look @ their LL-sized facility...
Did UE ever BID on it?

Wednesday's game -- 8 a.m. somewhere, or too early to be cracking open a Coor's light. No need to start a new thread for this. The participation level will increase as the Aces march along.
Nick Smith will open against (I assume) Jake Combs. Combs is all-conference with a 1.14 WHiP in 59 innings. 3.02 ERA. Righty junior.
Smith has not pitched especially well lately. Just score runs, baby.
The various websites and MVC links have all the data. Not much of that matters at that hour in the morning.
WE DO NOT WANT TO GET IN THE LOSER'S BRACKET.
Holy terrible schedule for that team.
The winner of Wednesday morning's game will advance on to face the winner of No. 2 Missouri State and either No. 5 Murray State or No. 8 Valparaiso on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. central. The loser of Wednesday morning's contest will return on Thursday morning to battle in an elimination game at 8 a.m. central time.

Actually, there was zero reason they could not have played 3 games today instead of a monster stupid 8 a.m. game. Belmont and UIC clawing at it. Valpo and Murray this afternoon. Nothing else until Wednesday morning. gosycamores.com/sidearmstats/baseball/summary

Press box at Sicko State Press box at Braun Field. Seems like this is a correctable error.
