It appears that he would complement Kenny at the 3 position. First impressions are: strength to finish inside, makes good interior passes to get his teammates involved, good outside shot, aggressive to the basket while looking under control.

A bigger bodied player who could play the 3 or 4. Can play strong enough around the basket and finish and hit the three and play some defense and block the ball some. Compliments some of our finesse front court players. Not a big scorer but can score when needed to.

over the last four games, including two conf tourney games, avg 12pts, 9reb
verbal commits shows sacred heart being the only offer for his original recruitment.
just going by his stats, his rebounding is the only thing that stands out a bit. on the neg side, maybe a bit turnover prone.

I’ll be honest I’m not excited at all about this one. I watched his highlights he posted, and I don’t think the way he plays will translate to the MVC at all. 30% 3 point shooting is better than some guys that just left, but still not great. I don’t see his physical style of play working against MVC players. Seems too small to be a big in the MVC, but not athletic enough to be a guard. Seems like a poor man’s Kenny and the aspects of Kenny’s game that people got frustrated with would be way worse with him imo.

Not the quickness I would like to see in a 6-6 player but he appears to be solid and not easily pushed off his position. He’s not going to be a prolific scorer or rebounder but would be the type of team player every team needs. Since we are once again rebuilding an entire team to the tune of 9 or 10 players he might fill one of those vacancies. I defer to our coaches.

The reason Rags likes him is bc he can use his dribble to back people down into the paint, ultimately becoming a post player with hopefully a smaller guard on him He also is a decent stand still shooter
Penn St did this a bunch: allowed their guards plenty of time to back people down in the paint and then kick out for 3’s when the help came
Walking people down in the paint is a skill and some coaches love it, some don’t (it isn’t always pretty basketball bc the ball really doesn’t move until the post trap comes)
We do know that Toumi and Straw were asked to do this endlessly this year (albeit with mixed results), so I’d guess he’s high on Rags list

Well, he does have the little hook shot working for him. That seems to be a key skill for scoring in the paint in today's game.

Normally, I would probably agree with you on this, but considering that the leading rebounder in the league was 6’6”, shot less than 30% from three, 65% from the free throw line, and only averaged 12 a game while being utilized in the same fashion as this kid probably would potentially be, I can see the upside here.

Good points. Tytan Anderson didn’t do much in college until having a breakout season in his junior year, so maybe this guy could have a similar impact next season. I just have a hard time getting myself excited to see us recruiting someone that was a rotation player on a NEC school, but his minutes/production did steadily increase as the season went on. Looks like he started the final two games and had good games. On a side note, I saw this on twitter as well. Looks like Hofstra could be hard to compete with on this one if he’s looking to reunite with his brother.

A lot of NBA teams used to run offenses sort of like that. Pheonix when Barkley was there. And yes, you are exactly right Penn State did a ton of it this year. If people remember Mark Jackson with the Pacers also used to do a lot of this. I think they even came up with a rule to try and prevent guys from doing what he used to do. Back people down from around 15 feet all the way to the rim to see if the double would come and then dish it to Smits or Antonio Davis for a wide open 15 foot shot. If you are going to run an offense like that you need guys with a post game that have to be doubled to stop. And you also need a boat load of shooters. I'm not neccessarly opposed to it to be honest. I'd much rather have a post centered offense than one that is dependant on our guards beating people off the dribble. That will always be a disaster in my opinion. Ideally post play with shooters coming off screens and losts of movement off the ball is the ticket to success in my opinion. One on one guard play we will lose every single time.
