247sports.com/Season/2023-Basketball/CompositeTeamRankings/?utm_source=247Sports&utm_medium=ExternalEmbed&utm_campaign=TeamRankingsEvansville’s ‘23 recruiting class is currently ranked #97 in all of D1 (358 teams). Only Murray State (#84) and Southern Illinois’s (#90) recruiting classes are rated higher in the MVC. #84 Murray State #90 Southern Illinois #97 Evansville #109 Belmont #109 Drake #109 Northern Iowa #109 Illinois State #109 Bradley #109 Indiana State Obviously this is an inexact science, especially since starting at ranking 108 the teams have no 3, 4 or 5-star recruits. Teams missing from the list are Valpo, Missouri State and UIC. Still a lot of recruiting season to go.

Is this with the addition of Cameron? It depends if the site is up to date (with the latest recruits). Unfortunately I can’t answer that.

No. 247 doesn’t recognize any of our recruits besides Chuck Bailey

Below ranking of 107 it simply has teams with no such commitments. Definitely not an assessment of our complete class, but it’s still nice to see us in our position v being with Valpo and UIC like we have been in 90% of our other modern recruiting classes.

On3 has us at 102. Only SIU at 95 and Murray State at 99 are higher. Belmont is at 118. (Of course, these recruiting rankings are quite subjective) but good to see us ranked so high (especially for a mid-major and MVC team). www.on3.com/db/rankings/industry-team/basketball/2023/In the 247Sports rankings we are tied for 96 with Murray State at 82 and SIU at 88.

This ranking means as close to nothing as you can get, but I'll take hope where I can find it.

This is similar to how various baseball publications rank farm systems, as if farm systems actually win pennants. But if the listing suggests there is some individual talent, one assumes there is a chance the staff can harvest it. I don't know if I plan to set aside any wagering capital on this just yet.

Since Chuck Bailey is the sole reason we are included in the rankings, it will be his development that determines the accuracy of the rating.

I agree with the first part of this that Chuck as the only 3 or 4 star recruit is driving our recruiting ranking. However, the development/play of every recruit is going to determine how accurate our recruiting ranking is.
