Aces 0-4 after sloppy road trip to Troy and 6-3 loss at Kentucky.
"It is hard to beat an SEC team on the road when you don't play clean baseball," said UE head coach Wes Carroll. "We are making the game harder than it needs to be right now. It will be good to get home, as we are ready to play at home this weekend."

Another season that starts poorly.....every season is like this. No chance for an at-large bid if they don't win the MVC tournament. You have to win nonconference road games to build a resume, and this staff can't seem to do it.

Looks like our pitching faltered again, gave up 8 runs. Kinda hard to evaluate pitching on the last day of February. College baseball is about offense. Baseball in the Valley has always been like that. The real games don't start until April and even then, an ERA around 5.00 and a WHIP of 1.5 is considered pretty good.

Winner first of a DH 9-3 over Bowling Green. Nick Smith the winning pitcher. Another game to follow. Hug, Scherry and Hord are having a season. Not sure what happened to Shallenberger after the first few games. He is still listed on the roster.

I wondered the same on Shallenberger; I did notice that he got hit by a pitch in his last game that he played. But thought it was early in the game and believe that he played the rest of the game. Not sure if that HBP resulted in a injury or not but hope that he is back soon.

We aren't asking for details but if they expect us to be engaged in their programs, it's only natural to ask why a .350 hitter who has been leading off for two years isn't playing. Just say (a.) he's injured (b.) is on the team but isn't playing. I can live with that. If he's left town with the mayor's wife, that's not our business, but since he's still on the roster and hits .350, it would seem logical that the mayor's wife isn't involved. They want us to spend our time/energy/resources on this and they can't be upfront about fundamental questions. It should not be up to the Courier to tell us this, or some private 'insider' who should not be the source of anything important.
