The women are only up 26-21 at the moment mid way through the second quarter. From looking at the team stats, the 31% FG shooting number seems to be the key stat or the lead would be more for us. I would expect us to pull away as the game goes on just from looking at the other stats in the box score. E.g. Roosevelt has 14 fouls already to our 5.
Note: The Aces new big “man” Barbara Tomancova has three fouls in four minutes. That is the individual stat that stands out to me.

Looking like the Lady Aces are going to win big. Barbara Tomancova is showing that she could be a force if she can stay on the floor. She has 12 points and five rebounds in just 10 minutes.
Balanced scoring for the Aces with Newman, Feit and Clark in double figures as well.

The Aces next opponent is #4 Iowa on the road Thursday night. Last year they beat us by 37 and Caitlin Collins had 44 points, 5 rebounds and eight assists. Feit had a double/double (22 points and 10 rebounds) in a losing effort.
Iowa beat Southern University 87-34 in their opener. Collins led Iowa with 20 points.

I was very impressed with the offensive production. Feit was in foul trouble and struggled shooting the ball… otherwise, they would have passed the century mark.
Clark made 8 threes. She only made 25 total a year ago.
Tomancova had 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 blocks. She looked like an all MVC performer. Let’s hope she can consistently stay out of foul trouble because she is a brick wall inside.
I was also impressed with Mason Striverson. Good size and quickness for a PG.
What I was concerned about: - 25 turnovers - The press at times is still ineffective. I don’t remember it causing many turnovers. 50% of the time, it leads to an easy transition bucket for the opponent. It may work against awful teams like Morehead State, but I’m not sure if it will ever work against MVC teams. - Does anyone know what happened to Davis? She was a big time scorer last year.
Let’s hope they can reach double digit wins this season… I am not sure how much better they can be though since the roster is pretty much the same from last year… other than the 2 players mentioned above (side note: I don’t see Sinclair playing much, Kincer is injured, and Hernanz Pacios is a major project). RSW is a winner though. Results will come eventually.

Good offensive production even though Feit had an off night. We had some good runs, had 38pts with 7 mins remaining in the first half, then went quiet through the 3rd qtr and let EKU back into the game.
Many of the turnovers were unforced. Dribbling off the foot, throwing the ball out of bounds on a fairly simple pass, etc. Hopefully those were just opening game mistakes.
EKU pressed us a few times and it caused a few mistakes, so we will have to work on that part of the game.
Great game for Tormancova, but lacks some agility and quickness, so it will be interesting to watch her against other teams.

#4 Iowa shows why they are one of the favorites to win it all this year. They have won all three games they have played so far by at least 43 points:

The 115-62 lose illustrates the extreme nature of WBB in that the top programs are simply on a different planet from the rest of the country. They recruit better players for practice fodder than most mid-majors use in games. If you are a mid-major, don't even think about competing with the top women's programs.

Iowa sets program record for points scored. Ouch.

This team is still rebuilding. They don't get anything from being run out of a gym by 50 points. Until this team starts dominating mid-majors then picking up these games isn't a good idea. I don't know if I'll bother watching the Illinois game. This isn't a knock on the team, they just aren't ready for these games.
