After being subject to some of the worst basketball I have ever witnessed at UE the past three years, it's just staggering to see what is now happening. I'm not even sure the prior regime would have even had a full roster for next season. Time will tell, but it seems the kids Coach Ragland has signed essentially on the fly, are at a vastly different level. If the coaching staff can land these types of kids in June, makes me wonder what this roster could like one year from now.

He’s getting a late start on the class of ‘23 for UE still, but I think we’re about to see him go hard after some of the Indy kids he was already recruiting for Butler & has relationships with and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s able to convince a few to come and help turn this thing around.

Indianapolis is a talent rich area that UE has struck out on a ton in recent years. Did Coach Turd ever get an Indy recruit? This needs to be priority number 1.

Agree - recruit the transfer portal, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Chicago, and Evansville. There’s plenty of talent there to consistently build a quality roster.

m.lasvegassun.com/news/2022/jun/04/former-unlv-player-marvin-coleman-finds-home-at-ev/#.YpuUDrYTwV4.twitterFormer UNLV basketball guard Marvin Coleman will play next season at Evansville, he announced in a social media post. Coleman went from being a walk-on player at UNLV in 2018 under coach Marvin Menzies to the Rebels’ captain and starting point guard. And against New Mexico on Jan. 18, 2020, Coleman had the program’s first triple-double in more than 20 years with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. A local and graduate of Foothill High School, Coleman battled injury in 2020-21 in only playing six games. Last season, he averaged 2.5 points and 1.5 assists in 13 minutes per game, but wasn’t around the team for the two final months of the season. He’s a graduate transfer with at least one season of remaining eligibility.

It’s hard to walk-on and then get a scholarship at a D1 school, especially a school like UNLV. This isn’t football when guys are constantly getting hurt. The assessment of the other guards had to go terribly wrong for this to happen. But they had Jordan McCabe…a previous top 100 guy. So this tells me Coleman can play. Also started 25 games….that’s impressive for a walk-on.

Thanks Ace78 for sharing.
Marvin seems to have a quiet confidence about him. It will be interesting to see how the point guard situation shakes out. The two hosts who know him from his UNLV days seem to think he will be playing in the Vegas summer league next year. It also sounds like he might play down in the post some as some opposing guards are not comfortable guarding in the post.
The coaching staff have done a great job bringing in a veteran point guard that Gabe and Zavieon can learn from. Early “talk” seems to indicate that Gabe could be our future point guard that could even push Marvin for time on the court.
When concluding they asked him what Aces fans could expect from him and the team. In short he said “a new level of basketball”. Also he is striving to be a leader that is consistent. Sounds like earlier in his career that he had some big games (like 16 or 19 points) but then other games with four points. So he wants to be a leader who brings it ever day and is consistent and do whatever it takes to win.
Go Aces!!!
