I didn’t want to overtake the Assistant Coaches thread with John Bol talk, but since we have hired Marcus Wilson, it is only fair to assume we will be soon offering his son John. For those unaware, Marcus is the legal guardian of 7 footer John Bol. He is a top 25 recruit in the country according to 247. 247sports.com/player/john-bol-46125411/Maybe it’s just a pipe dream to think he’ll ever play in the Ford Center, but crazier things have happened. Top 10 prospect Pat Baldwin Jr committed to play for his father at Milwaukee last season. His team won 10 games the season before committing and 10 games in his lone season there. In the MVC, we’ve seen top 100 players like AJ Green and Tucker Devries go to play for mid majors to be coached by their fathers. In the article below, he mentions that he has been mainly hearing from Butler and a few other schools now. That article was written when Rags was on staff. I’d be shocked if anyone else was his lead recruiter considering Rags relationship with Marcus. He says in the article that he wants go to the program that wants him the most and will allow him to win. No doubt in my mind we want him the most, but will Rags and Marcus have enough time to prove to him that he can win here? We will see… basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/seven-footer-jon-bol-ready-to-break-out-nationallyJust realized I never posted the second article I mentioned. Here it is. Sorry about that

Will John be transferring to an Evansville area school? I’ve heard rumors he’ll be transferring to Memorial, but we’ll have to wait on Marcus to confirm that. If he doesn’t follow him here, I would think he would go to a prep school. Hopefully he comes here though. If he doesn’t, we can pretty much drop this pipe dream imo.

Marcus was an outstanding hire in my opinion. Many here advocated him for the Head Coach position and even the AD. I like Marcus in a coaching position because he is such a great teacher of the game.
As a bonus John Bol should be the target of the future. John seems to be a great kid and is probably quite naïve of the perils of major college D-1 sports. He needs caring people to guide him to become a successful athlete guaranteeing him a lucrative financial future and preparing him for adulthood. With the coaches at UE we have that in place for John.
As John Bol’s legal guardian I know Marcus will put his future first. My only hope that the future will be at UE. Let’s get it done Marcus.

I would love for John Bol to come to UE and I hope he does. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, and Marcus being here would be a huge factor - it is a unique situation. For a kid like John, with a close bond to Marcus who would be his coach, that may be enough. It was for Tucker DeVries and AJ Green, as has been pointed out. I would think that we will have a chance to sign him. Having said that: it already would have been rare, but signing such a highly rated prospect is much tougher for a school like UE than it was 2 years ago, and it will get increasingly difficult - because with. NIL, the kid could go to Texa$ or UK or UNC and make a boatload of money.

It would be awesome if we had a booster willing to pony up some money for an NIL deal to get him here for a season or two if he’s interested in staying with Marcus.

The C&P article about Marcus hire mentions that he’s not sure if his family will relocate to Evansville with him. That could definitely hurt the chances of bringing John to UE imo. Hopefully they all move to Evansville

Hopefully they all move to Evansville I am taking that as it's going to take some time to wrap up all things relating to where they are living now, and will eventually move here, but it's up to them what they want to do. Probably don't want their kids to have to change schools.

I’m sure that will factor into the decision as well. Does anybody know the ages of his two other children?

Maybe the family will move here and John will enroll at Evansville Christian HS......then he could team up and get very close with Josiah Dunham.

Wouldn’t be very competitive games considering they play little sisters of the poor for half their games.

Wouldn’t be very competitive games considering they play little sisters of the poor for half their games. This is a ridiculous post. I tend to have some non-popular posts, but sometimes you have to keep people informed 1. Most Evansville schools (Reitz, Memorial, Mater Dei, etc.) claim that they do not have room on their schedule, so how is the schedule supposed to magically improve? 2. The school has 177 students, which ranks 367th out of 405 IHSAA schools with membership. 1A schools play 1A schools. 3. Looking at the schedule: Lanesville, Day School, and Wood Memorial were all bad. I understand that. I personally watched a couple of those games, and they were all blowouts. However, Loogootee, North Daviess, Bloomfield, and even Orleans were all ranked in the top ten in 1A during the season. 4. The North Daviess game was winnable; however, the official called an egregious 5 second call while the ball was in Dunham’s hands with seconds to go in the 4th quarter (tie game). ND ended up winning the 1A tournament. 5. O’Fallon has an enrollment of around 2400 to 2500. Henderson County has 2000 kids. Hopkinsville, Madisonville North Hopkins, Central all around 1000 students. You can’t claim that they didn’t play anyone that has a significant name. 6. Starting in the 2022-2023 season, all sports at ECS are able to compete in the IHSAA tournament. I am confident that the boys basketball team will win the IHSAA tourney in 2023 or 2024. 7. There are rumors that a kid from South Spencer is transferring to ECS, which will easily make them the favorites in 1A. 8. **At least trust me on this, Josiah Dunham would be a great addition to UE’s roster in a few years** He has to be a top priority on Ragland’s mind for the class of 2024. This kid is a natural scorer and playmaker, and he still has 2 years left in HS. He has already scored over 1,000 points, and that’s without the chance to play in the postseason. He comes from an athletic family. Moriah currently plays soccer at Taylor, Elijah is the #26 prospect in the New York Yankees organization, and Isaiah played football at Yale for a few years. This drives him to be successful. He comes in hours before school starts to train in the gym. You can’t teach drive, determination, heart, etc.

Sorry I offended you. Didn’t realized you play at Evansville Christian😝
I didn’t say they had crappy players. I’m just saying some of the competition they play is not the best. Some of my Bob’s gym pick up basketball buddies could beat some of these teams with enough time out breaks 😅😂
As for local team not playing you guys, my guess is that they don’t have any real incentive to do it. Kind of the same reason why UE doesn’t play Oakland city every year.

Kind of the same reason why UE doesn’t play Oakland city every year. I am not offended one bit. You can freely express your opinion. I just wanted to bring up actual facts since I know a lot about the school/program. By your excessive use of emojis, I would have to guess that you are in your 20s to lower 30s. I would fully expect that a group of 25 year olds would regularly beat up on 16 year old high schoolers... Am I supposed to be proud of your gym buddies (that are bigger and stronger)? I don’t understand how this is relevant. College coaches find talent regardless of how tough the competition may be.
