- DBU hops over SIU to have two (2) MVC bids.
This is what kills me:
1. Greenville Regional - Coppin St (24-28)
2. Louisville - Michigan (32-26)
3. Blacksburg - Wright St. (30-25)
4. Stanford - Binghamton (22-28)
5. Auburn - SE Louisiana (30-29)
6. Corvallis - New Mexico State (24-32)
Ball State went 40-19/32-7 in the MAC winning the Conference Title, but lost the last two (2) games of the three (3) game Post-season v. #2 Central Michigan - CMU gets the ONLY MAC bid.

Interesting that DBU gets a bid. If this were March Madness there's no way a third place MVC team with early tournament exit gets in, even with the RPI.

They (DBU) capitalized off of building a high pre-MVC RPI against fellow Southern schools, then rode that prejudicial "Southern wave" to the NCAA shoreline. Won't have to worry about this NEXT year...

Won't have to worry about this NEXT year... I understand the use of RPI, but they had the entire conference season as well as the MVC tourney to show they were head and shoulders above SIU and UE, and they didn't. They didn't live up to their RPI between the lines. This is where actual conference play should count for something. That said, it's not like they took away "our" slot, and the more conference teams that make the tournament the better. But they were definitely a duck out of water in our conference and I look forward to UIC, Murray and Belmont playing baseball next season.

DBU (#26 RPI) crapped in their drawers last night while losing to #30 RPI LA Tech: www.thenewsstar.com/story/sports/college/louisiana-tech/2022/06/03/louisiana-tech-baseball-jorge-corona-hit-inside-park-grand-slam/7508205001/I agree 100% re: the value of MVC Conference play. The MVC knew when they added the Dallas school that they's be a "duck out of water," but their hope was centered around the "Life Buoy" concept, and RAISING the conference RPI and # of at-large bids. Frankly, the #'s don't support this over the 9 yrs. They'll be in Conference USA now, and both the ELO & RPI are #5 v. MVC's #9. LA TECH & S. MISS were the only schools to receive bids THIS yr.
Southern school RPI's are clearly prejudiced by early season GEOGRAPHY. Look @ DBU and their gradual downward slide...once the MVC schools had a couple months of warm weather under their belts, DBU faltered.

DBU is out of the tourney after a 5-1 loss to Air Force (#103 RPI) today.
Missouri State lost last night to OK State(RPI 16), then bounced back with a win today against Grand Canyon (RPI 55)

Can’t help but think that UE would have at least split the first two games if they would have gotten in. But still a great season.
