- Since Connor exited the transfer portal and recommitted to Butler, I don't think he could transfer to UE this year (without sitting out a year) - but I could be wrong. This would be more of an option next year if he was unhappy and wanted to transfer.
- John Bol is in the class of 2024 and is an interesting prospect. He is 7-1 and a five star prospect. His recruitment includes schools from the Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 as well as Butler out of the Big East (probably due to Marcus). Marcus is his legal guardian from what I understand and they obviously have a solid relationship and history. If and when Marcus moves to Evansville it is not unreasonable to think that John Bol might move as well to Eville. Could he practice with the team, etc? There are a lot of interesting dynamics here. Whether Evansville has a reasonable shot at him is still to be seen but he definitely would be a game changer.
First things first, are the next couple of years and getting back to being able to compete in the MVC.

One only has to look at Gonzaga to see what could be. Before Mark Few the Zags weren’t on anyone’s radar. Proof that a good coach with good assistants and early recruiting success can bring a small private school to a national power. Butler was similar but has since struggled a little after joining the Big East. Shaka Smart has shown what a good young coach can do when given the HC reins at VCU, Texas and Now Marquette. He moved his way up as an assistant at California (PA), Akron, Clemson and Florida. If Ragland is as good a coach/recruiter, mentor and person as others not connected with UE have stated and he has some early success, I’m sure we will see some strong upward movement by the Aces. Gonzaga is definitely a great example of what could be - definitely good to dream big and see what happens. In regards to Shaka - not saying he is a bad coach - but he did struggle a bit at Texas and was continually on the hot seat. At VCU, he definitely showed what is possible. I wonder if he still gets on the floor with the guys in the pregame workouts diving for the ball - definitely don't see many head coaches doing that to get their teams motivated. At Texas, he didn't make the NCAA tournament in three of his six years and had a 11-22 team; definitely not what they were paying him millions of dollars for.

I’m interested to see what our recruiting activity in the St Louis metro looks like. That’s a close metro area filled with lots of talented players that we rarely tap into in my memory. Something tells me that whether Marcus is on staff or not, he will be in Raglands ear helping him land players from that area via his connections.

So the assistant coach thread has turned into a recruiting thread. Assistant coaches do most of the recruiting. You've got to have good ones. They are the one's that go to Juco's, and high schools to to find the hidden gems that can really make, or break a team.

They are also the ones that make the weekly phone calls and text messages to the recruits until they are signed. There’s a lot of hand holding that goes on between the two seeing the process from beginning to end.

Besides St. Louis, Marcus has contacts in Europe from the 10+ years he played there.

So the assistant coach thread has turned into a recruiting thread. Back to your original statement, I would be shocked if anyone on the original staff was brought in to be an assistant under Ragland. Seems like they would’ve not fired them all in the same day if bringing any back was ever going to be a possibility. Hope they land on their feet somewhere, but I would be shocked if it’s here for any of them. Just looked and Crones house is on the market, so I’d say it’s safe to assume no one will be coming back. Best of luck to him wherever he lands!

Guessing Marcus is somewhere "fancy" right now. Hopefully getting some R&R:

I really hope I'm wrong but there's a snowball's chance in hell that Marcus has a seat on our bench. I'll gladly eat a healthy portion of crow if it does happen.

I think Marcus is much more likely to be an assistant than not; it just may take a little time to sort out everything with his other ventures. Is it a 100% lock? - no. There are no guarantees (in life).

Jevin to make an announcement on the baseball pre- game show on an addition to the staff. WJPS flagship station. It could be Marcus but my gut tells me that it may take sometime for Marcus to sort things out; so the announcement may be for another coach coming onboard. Either way it is all good and things are looking up. Go Aces!!!
