That’s a strong list of candidates. Lots of guys with just as good of a resume as Ziggy and just as many Memphis ties. I’d hate to lose him, but don’t blame him one bit for applying for the job. With that many strong candidates though, I’d be surprised if Ziggy is the final choice. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I assume that the Deputy AD position pays more than the UE AD does and it takes him home. Gonna need his ego to get big in order to keep him

Either way, we’re in a much better position than we were the last time we searched for an AD and the search committee seemed to understand what kind of qualities we need for a successful AD at the university of Evansville. I have faith in Pres P and the BOT to get it right again if needed, but hopefully we can retain Ziggy. Memphis may be home to him, but California & Evansville is home for his kids. Hopefully they’re adjusting to Evansville well and don’t want to leave this soon.

Yes - crime is terrible in Memphis. Was once (maybe still) stolen vehicle leader in country. My company has had multiple vehicles stolen there.

Yes - crime is terrible in Memphis. Was once (maybe still) stolen vehicle leader in country. My company has had multiple vehicles stolen there. It is, but like a lot of the rougher large cities..St Louis, Chicago, Detroit, etc there are plenty of good places down there. Germantown, Collierville and Olive Branch quickly come to mind. Obviously Ziggy and even Logan have family there and know the pros and cons of the area better than any of us. My concern is the biggest reason we endured the first 20 years of this century the way we did was the poor hires of AD's that were made. Getting this hire correct was more important in my mind than the head coach position. Clearly Ziggy and Logan have been fantastic hires and exactly what this program desperately needed. Hopefully they will realize the job isn't finished and will want to see it through. As Dorothy famously said though, there is no place like home.

I lived and worked in Memphis back in the 70s and the crime was really bad back then. Our offices were downtown just down from the Peabody. The joke among staff was whose turn was it to go out to the parking lot and find your car gone. The funniest thing was those who got into their cars turned the key and nothing. Every week someone had their battery stolen. No hood locks back then. Also, my next door neighbor at my Apartment complex whom I really didn’t know looked like he was moving out. Had a U-haul truck backed up to the door and a couple of guys loading. I ended up helping them some. A couple of days later the neighbor knocks on my door and asked if I saw anything strange happening. He then told me they cleaned him out. Took everything.
On a serious note there was a case where an 8th grader went in to see his teacher about a grade. He had failed her class but he demanded a “A”. When she refused he stabbed her to death. My fiancé then lived in Evansville and she was a teacher. I told her then I was quitting my job and moving to Evansville when we got married.
I will give Memphis a shout out for things to do. Lots of great night life and places to eat. Great sports town.

I have to assume Ziggy and UE came to something of an agreement that didn't include just leaving for the old home town the minute a job came open. I'd wager Ziggy knew about this opening long before the guy posted it on Twitter. To that end, if he chooses to leave, it's important to know that UE was looking for an AD when they hired him. There are other good people in this vast country who can pick up and move it forward.

I have to assume Ziggy and UE came to something of an agreement that didn't include just leaving for the old home town the minute a job came open. That’s true. He’s got a contract deal similar to coaches that only guarantees him X amount of years as AD. I’m sure that contract has a buyout UE would be required to pay if they fired him for performance while he still had years on his contract. Idk how AD contracts work, but it would only make sense to have a buyout another employer would have to pay if they wanted to poach him too. I’m sure the poaching buyout isn’t a crazy number and a P5 would pay it to hire him as an AD, but hopefully it’s enough to deter Memphis from considering him as a deputy AD.

No offense, but I am 95% sure that Ziggy would not take a lower level job, even if it pays more, because the optics would look terrible for him.
