This is the first meeting between the Lady Aces and Lady Bears this season. MO State beat UE 88-46 in their last meeting last year. Can't imagine tomorrow's game will be much closer. Ruffing would be smart to have an updated resume because he'll be looking for a job after the first round of Hoops in the Heartland. What's the recipe for hiring a women's coach for a program like UE? Same as we've seen posted on the men's side, a young up-and-coming assistant coach from a P5 or higher level conference? Maybe Spencer should look into an assistant from Belmont as they've been to the last four NCAA tournaments.

What was Kathi Bennett's background before coming here? Tricia Cullop? I seriously don't recall, but both had success.
I agree it is past time to replace Ruffing. Not being sexist, but it seems overall (yes I am aware of UConn) that the successful programs tend to have women coaches. I think they just relate to the players better.
If the defense of Spencer is he was handcuffed by previous presidents, which I think there is some validity, then now is the time for him to show some leadership and get these programs up to par.

I would doubt our new Prez would tie Spencer's hands with the ladies team or maybe any of the other teams at this stage. Bennett was daughter of Dick Bennett who coached at Wisconsin if I am not mistaken. Tricia followed Kathy if I am remembering correctly. Both had success before moving on. Epps had some early success with a few good players/transfer but it all unravelled when 3 or 4 girls left the team the same time. The one thing I have to wonder is playing on campus vs The Ford for the girls home games..is that going to make recruiting more difficult or will that matter? UE had to move from The Ford to campus due to the rent, no one will argue that point. Seems to me it would just make it tougher to land some better recruits.

I wonder if it cost any more for the playing 2 games @ the Ford in one day. If it could be scheduled for the girls to play before or after if there isn't any conflict with Thunderbolts. Otherwise they would play @ the Meeks.
Just a thought

It's a good idea but impractical in today's environment.
